Black Friday Craziness!! | | So, my husband and I did the dreaded Black Friday shopping today. I figured it shouldn't be that bad since he's a bartender and would be getting off around 3:30AM when the first store we were going to opened at 4am; we'd be awake already, so WHY NOT?!?
It wasn't that bad until we went to the next store that had a line around the side and back of the building. We stood in line for about 30 minutes before the store opened (some people had camped out that night, there were blankets and chairs, it was crazy). It was FREEZING COLD!!!! I love to people watch, and some of the people in line were definitely interesting.
It's sad, though, that even during the holidays, when people are suppose to be happy and joyful, that they can still be so rude to their fellow man!! I could give a couple different examples during our short 30 minutes of waiting, but I'll stick to just one. As I mentioned, some people camped out, and others had waited in line for hours in the freezing cold, but once the doors were open and the line slowly started moving in there were people that had been sitting in their cars to stay warm walking up to the front doors thinking they could just walk up instead of wait in line. My husband and I were in the next group of people to go into the store, when a lady walked up and joined us with fresh, hot coffee thinking she was going in. Luckily, some guys in the crowd, including my husband, stood up to her and told the guy working the door not to let her in because she had cut line. The NERVE of some people!!!!!
On the bright side, some ladies from Chick-fil-A were handing out fresh chicken biscuits! That was nice and thoughtful for all the hungry, cold people waiting in line.
Let me know if you did any shopping today on Black Friday, and share some of your stories....

What I would recommend, though, is that you compare your prices before thinking that Black Friday has such GreatDeals!!:-) I did that with some of the 'hot items' and there wasnt that big a difference in the prices any other day versus on the Holiday weekend...

I don't get the paper, so I only heard it advertised on tv and the internet. Turns out, afer we stood in line for an hour in the snow, they had sold out of the item we wanted at three am, an hour before we got there. They gave out tickets to people right before we got there. That is so wrong not to say that. And when we finally got inside, the people working there wouldn't even say they were gone, just "if there are any left, you have to stand in THAT line to find out". I was a grumpy person back in bed by eight am. I won't be doing that again!! That would have been the rare time that me and my hubby could have snuggled in the morning! I'll take that over shopping any day!

There were several items that the stores didnt have when we got there, but we didn't get to any of them any later than 30 minutes after they opened, so this seems unREAL to me that those items were already sold out! It's nearly impossible!
How can they 'run out' of an item that they KNOW is going to sell a lot on this particular weekend, during the first 30 minutes to one hour of being open on the first day of the sales event?? I think they just tell people for a little while that they're sold out, then they pull ONE more out onto the floor, let someone buy it, tell everyone its sold out again, then repeat this process...
That would be funny, huh? Thanks for the comment.

wickedstepma (727) | 3 years ago | Yeah, I'm more of a sunshine person myself! But I wouldn't even have been upset if it had been even a half hour after they opened that they were sold out. They sold out two hours BEFORE store opening time. (Those silly tickets they pass out). Oh, well. Now I know not to do that again, lol!
