Hi TerryZ! I don't remember my mother putting a tissue or handkerchief in her shirt sleeve nor does my grandmother. But i think my grandmother always have her handkerchief tucked in her dress pocket all the time. hehe..And I only remember that my mother has this little box of tissues always at her side. Take care and have a nice day. :)

Hi Terry,
YES! I remember my Grandmother having tissues in the sleeve of her shirt as a kid. The saying some things never change is too true! When we had our Thanksgiving her in Canada in October and she came with my mom and brother she STILL had tissues in her sleeve. It really grossed me out! Yuk is right! Bleck!
Luv & Hugzz, PurpleTeddyBear.

Thank you! I'll sleep much better tonight knowing you won't have your kleenex in the sleeve of your shirt when you get their age.

Ewww. I don't remember my grandmother doing it, or my great-grandmother even. But some of my grandmother's friends did it, and I did see them blow their noses on the things, stick them right back up their sleeve, and then proceed to eat and such. Ewwww.

As a child I attended a Catholic School. So I had the zuit suit
to wear. Mom always jammed a hanky in my shirt pocket for the
sneezes and runny nose etc. I hated it though as it looked like
I had a boob on one side. HAHAHAHA!!

My Oma did that too. My mother did it too and I have in the past done it when I was very very sick and not of clear mind. Anything I did was gross and won't do if I was feeling well. It is pretty gross.
But I remember once my Oma took the darn thing out and wiped my face with it. I always cleaned myself up right after I ate after that! That is YUCK to the max. LOL

HaHa, yes, I do remember my Grandma having her handkerchief in her sleeve, so funny now that I think of it.
I especially remember when she use to do gardening out in the backyard and it was hot. She'd pull out that big ol' white handkerchief and wipe her eyes, forehead and nose because of the sweat, haha, and stick it back up her sleeve.
I don't remember her ever being sick though, isn't that strange?.....I just remember the gardening.

See, you don't remember your Grandma being sick either...hmmmmm.
Just makes me think that back then the air was much more cleaner, people weren't eating fast foods because they cooked, there was not that many so-called food preservatives, they worked very hard and physically for a living, and we didn't have as much diseases, viruses, bacteria on the rampage.........boy, have we messed up since then.

I don't have to go as far back as my grandma doing that. My mom did that and still does. She even goes so far as to put it in her bra. I tell her that is gross, but she still does it. She says that way it's handy for when she needs it. My father always carried a cloth handkerchief and kept in his pants pocket. He would use that handkerchief for days on end, even if it was used, if you know what I mean.

My grandma would put them in her pants pocket or in her coat pocket. I think once a tissue is used it should be thrown away that is why I don't like handkerchiefs think of all the germs. I do sometimes put kleenex in my purse but only new ones in case I need them once they are used they are thrown away.

No my grandmother was top heavy and everything went into her shirt, tissues, money, toys, everything right into the shirt. I used to wonder who went up there to clean it out, and when she took her shirt off did she find stuff she lost.

I don't ever remember tissues coming out of a sleeve, I think she always had them in her purse. How about when they spit on a tissue to get it wet to wipe something off your face? Glad we have wet wipes now!

I don't remember my grandma doing this Terry, nor haven't actually caught her doing it!LoL
I think that things were really differently done that time, as we know time changes and that it's because they still have strong immune system or atleast they're body resistance was strong back then because there's not much pollution that time.
But I remember my grandmother putting coins or spare change on her handkerchief, though I'm not sure if it was the same hanky she uses when wiping something on her body or face!;)LoL

I do remember my grandma putting tissue in her sleeve of her shirt.
I think why she do this is just wanting to avoid her shirt to be dirty.
