Series of Unfortunate Events

I recently watched the movie, A Series of Unfortunate events. While I had heard less the favorable reviews. I read it .. I found that it greatly simplified the first book, added two plots not in the first book, and then finished up with the ploy of Count Olaf from the first book gain. Yet, I still thought it was quite enjoyable. I some ways, I liked the portrayal even better than the book. Anyone else who read the book and saw the movie who has a different opinion to voice?
