Like everyone else, I am having to cinch the spending belt this Christmas. One place that I know I could save is on wrapping paper, ribbons and gift tags. I used to cut pretty things from last year's Christmas cards and use them as gift tags, however I only got 2 Christmas cards last year and I need more tags! Please share your ideas for making your own gift tags!

I know this is really tacky, but my mother was the queen of frugal. I don't know if we were really poor or not, but, I know how she made her tacky name tags, that I just put on my own kids gifts just last night!!! Cut a little sqaure or rectangle piece of the gift wrap that matches and fold it in half. Write your message and tape it to the gift! It looks tacky as all get out, but it will be a part of my heritage forever I'm afraid!! LOL!!

Can also go to a Dollar store and get a lot of tags for a buck.
We did the same thing before as this. Looks nice as well.

After Christmas is over, the stores put all the Christmas stuff on sale. My favorite after Christmas store is Target,. They keep lowing the price until it is 95% off. That is when I make my purchase. I purchase the tags for just a few cents and I pack them with my Christmas decoration. That way, they dont get lost. Next year when I unpack my Christmas stuff, I have all the tags I need already purchased.
When I run out of tags, I just a small piece of wrapping paper and fold it to make a card. I then put to and from on the inside and I am good to go.

If you have a printer or a digital camera program installed
there are many options for tag making in those programs.

I love wrapping presents in brown kraft paper and tying it with a length of twine or rafia. I like to attach a homemade tag cut out of tag board (card stock or some similar weight paper) I use a hole punch and tie it within the twine bow. Sometimes I dress the package up with a sprig of pine or some tiny pine cones.... if not I will use a green marker and make a line drawing or two of pine trees. This is a very rustic looking package and most find it appealing. Beauty in simplicity and all.

I use scrap wrapping paper, fold it in half and make gift tags out of that. I always have a little bit of scrap paper left over from some of the items I wrap. Most of my wrapping paper looks alike, so nothing clashes.
Heaven forbid I give a gift where the gift tag doesn't match the paper.
