Hi there mylot posters, readers and friends. As promised my second installment of the sleeper thread Ultimate Marriage Proposals is here. The first volume can be found here http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1262085.aspx Please note the effort. Even if you think they all stink, it does take effort to do. If you aren’t up to speed with the proposal monetary wise, then improvise. Not all proposals need the ring. The effort and intent should be more than enough. A final note, please don’t hold it against past proposers, present proposers and future proposers. For future ones you can show the list (I’d say anonymously) but remember it going to be their call in the end. I also say both women and men could use this for the same purpose. And on to the main event! [Idea 16] - Picnic Pack a picnic for your beloved. Be sure to bring things she likes especially her favorite food. Pick a nice open place to have it, the park would be nice especially if its welcoming. Have your lover close her eyes for a second and listen. Ask her what she hears (hopefully the sound of children ;p) Open the basket and take out a blue or white cloth and give it to her. It should have the ring in it and you should be able to take it from there. Have a good spring :) [Idea 17] – Prelude On the first week, give her something old yet worthy of her (family loom, brooch, pin should be fine). On the second week give her something new (a new bit of jewelry should work). On the third week give her something borrowed. On the fourth week give her something blue (a scarf or ribbon will do). Now, on the fifth week give her…shoes! (They don’t have to be elaborate, they don’t even have to be wearable, but make it shoes, or use a shoe box). Have her look in the shoes. The shoes will have a lucky penny, a note with the proposal and the wedding ring. [Idea 18] – Glasses Put the ring in her glasses case or protector. Be sure to remove the glasses and put it in a different protector before hand (remember guys, diamonds + glass = no!). Put the rigged protector where she’ll be or put it where you can find it. When she asks, direct her to the rigged protector and have her check it. Love may be blind, but you definitely want to be with her, so you and her should risk it[marriage]. It’s a risk for both of you, but if you are both right, its worth it. I wish you both the best, do not lose sight. :) [Idea 19] – The Reader This works especially if she night reads. Replace her bookmark with a custom one with your confession. You’ll have to make it short but powerful. Tie the ring at the string on the end. If you are present, follow up on this. If not, be sure to tell her when she catches up with you. [Idea 20] – Chess Play a game of chess. Preset the game and put the ring on the queen. Have it be on her side, or yours depending on how you want to do this. If its on her side you can cut right to the chase. If its on your side, intentionally lose, or at least give the queen/king some exposure so she can see the ring. Marriage will have its battles, its debates, its arguments but you can overcome, plus its better to stand back and have fun. If you are more “win”-ish then maybe you could win using the queen with the ring on your side. Or make a friendly wager and have her try to win the ring from you (of course with full intent to propose despite the outcome... I love games like this too). Have fun and congratulations to you both! Oh and save up the two chesspieces you used, could be used for future anniversary ideas and to test her memory :) [Idea 21] – Knight Order a knight helmet, broadsword and shield (or at least the sword and shield). You can use replicas. Kneel and have your beloved “knight” you using the broadsword. On the broadsword make sure you tie a string to the ring and tie the string to the hilt of the sword. She should notice it when she grabs it. Make sure to say your bold confession, note that you will protect, honor and serve her from this day forward. (If you want it whimsical, you can put your proposal on the shield) [Idea 22] – Memory Lane Make sure to take lots of picture and make lots of memories with your beloved. Keep a scrapbook just for this. Show it to her and at the end of the book, have a blank page with your confession on it and the wedding ring. (Whimsical twist, put in a fake photo of the two of you in wedding wear. Someone drove this home by putting the faces on the wrong roles) [Idea 23] – Try it on Well you bought the ring, why not wear it for a bit. Put it on a finger that fits naturally, and don’t get a wedding ring that fits your larger fingers, its for her remember -_-. Play a game with her and see how long you can hide it. Go out to dinner and keep the ring hand hidden. Steer the conversation toward marriage and couples. Have her lead the discussion until she starts to daydream. Then, take your hands and a note and place them below your chin like you are relaxing on the table. Keep the note between the fingers and try to keep the ring hidden. Have her read the note. Make sure to confess to her and grab her hand with the now revealed ring finger. [Idea 24] – Jail Break! You’ll have to work with your beloved’s workplace to pull this off. Or you can do it when she is near the end of the day. Break her out a bit early. Attach the ring to your keys and make sure to flash them to her when saying “Jailbreak!” Propose then and there too. Also have something planned too! Don’t just go home!(if possible). Its both of your time to enjoy each other. [Idea 25] – Customer No, no, no! Nothing lewd or shrewd. Just go to your beloved’s workplace for an hour or so. Pretend to be a part of her business. If she’s a teacher, you are a student. If she’s a doctor, you are her patient. Do this in moderation of course, but have fun with it. Turn in homework, or complain you are sick. At the end of your little playfest, give her an item symbolizing the profession. In the teacher’s case, an apple. Attach the ring on it and do your thing. And trust me, the more spiced up marriages will do this, so don’t write it off. [Idea 26] – T-shirt Get a t-shirt made with your proposal on it. Make sure to put it where she can find it, or give it as a gift. This can also be a gag gift proposal, so feel free to have fun with it if you wish. You can also attach an envelope with a note and the ring in it. Be serious or silly with this one. But usually it’ll take moderate effort to pull this one off (especially for the not so artistic/crafts savvy). Take care. [Idea 27] – Keys to life With this idea, it works if you are cohabitating or if you can somehow gain access to her keys. Have a metal or plastic key made out with a note attached to it. You can also have a custom keychain made with your proposal, craft stores and design stores should be able to handle this. Also attach the ring to it if applicable. To make this work when cohabitation isn’t happening, give the keychain and hidden ring as a gift but make sure to wrap it. Talk about how meeting your beloved has unlocked your life, and hopefully the same can be said for the other. Happiness to you both. [Idea 28] – Play with her hobby An idea hinted to in other proposals but this can be an idea all itself. Try to get your beloved’s hobby in this (if appropriate... could vary based on the person). Don’t just get her the ring, also try to be in the hobby as well and get something there too. I’ll put a few examples with statements to make it clearer, or try to make it clearer. If beloved likes painting, get her (or him) a couple of paintbrushes or a mini paint set and paper. Hide the ring in the present. Paint a picture too just to be involved and as part of the present (it may help to paint something related to the task at hand). Present the items to your beloved and your message of truth. If your love likes basic crafts, maybe get her(or him) little gems, items, crafts and attach the ring to that then present it to her. You could also try crafting something yourself to present. If your love likes games, go that route, and so forth. Let your imagination take part in this one.

awesome ideas and i love them all,you are so right you don't always need the ring all the time just to ask someone to marry you.there is so many ways to show your love.a great idea i have is the guy can buy a bracelet and spell out the propasal on the braclet, will you marry me.it doesn't have to be diamonds it can be any type of material.another great one that my friend did was he had a book of poems and he left the first few pages intact and carved a heart into the page and sewed a engagement ring into the back of a page.and then when his girlfriend came over they were taking turns sharing poems and when she came to the page with the ring he was down on his knees.it was very different.take care.pattie

*blush* Thanks once again Pattie. I think I could come up with even more ideas. I'm glad some variation is allowed at least from your perspective. Nice story you shared too.

hehe thank you! I don't think I'll be needing this any time soon but its good to know. I'll tell you how my mom's fiance proposed to her this past summer. Its really cute. First of all both o them are really involved in local politics and met through various events. They have one big annual bbq for the party they belong to once a year. Her fiance arranged to have the mic after the main speaker and he got down on one knee and proposed.

Well that's a good story and a different idea. I have seen some play out like that, but not that many. Thanks for sharing Monkeyrose!
