Ok I give my little neighbor girl lessons on Mon, Wen, and Fri for free becuase I used to play the Clarinet. But she's un-reliable. She won't show up for a week to any of the lessons and then the next week she'll be back. I'm just really getting sick of the inconsistency. It throws my whole family off. So how do I let her know that if she doesn't start coming or atleast letting me know that she won't be there then I'm not going to be able to give her lessons? She's really nice and everything but just "scatter brained".

You are probably going to have to tell her exactly like you wrote it here. Most tutors that get paid would charge for the no-show lessons...unfortunately since it is free you can't do that! Maybe suggest a different day - only once a week? That way you won't be so inconvenienced. You can always use a line like "due to changes in circumstances" or "changing family responsibilities"

hope it all works out for you!!

Thanks for getting back to me on this one. It's really been bugging me. I think that I am going to use your once a week suggestion. That way atleast she'll still get a chance to practice and get the help she needs but if she doesn't come it's not like my whole week was wasted waitting around for her. Just one day. Lol Thank you

glad that seemed helpful!!! If they aren't committed enough to show up regularly, once a week should hopefully work out for both of you!!
