Religious affiliation of presidential candidates.

How much does a candidate's religion affect your vote? Will it affect your decision at all? I am curious because I have heard people say they won't vote for a mormon, or they will only vote for someone with strong religious beliefs. Personally, I care about religion only as much as it affects the candidate's platform. Religion dictates what many believe, and that, in turn, dictates where they stand on certain issues. That is the only reason religion matters to me, as far as candidates are concerned. I am somewhat liberal, so I tend to favor the less preachy types.
