| "tanga"  | | | |  In the Philippines, a person calls you "tanga", he can literally be killed for it!
According to Ambet Ocampo, "tanga" in Tagalog means DULL as in a dull knife. There are no hospitals fot TANGAs as it is a temporary transient state! All you have to do is sharpen the blade.
Natanga is to be awed or surprised or discombobilated! Confused maybe but not dumb, not stupid nor insane!
Stephen Covey's 7th Habit, Sharpen the Saw, is most appropriate for this condition!
So, PINOYs, don't fret, RELAX! TANGA is not forever!!!
TANGA!!!

| |  oh that's very interesting to know! I can remember when I used to live in Philippines every time I hear 'tanga' from my tito or tita or even from my parents, it was a sign that something is gonna come in your way. And there it is, its either their two fingers pinching your ears and the twist!!! So it was more like, TANGA! *pingot* lol then I cry, run to my room, lock up and swear at them.
But now, I get it it was more of sharpening you like a knife -shaping you as a person. And at the end of the day, they are right -they do things like that out of love. And it benefits you in the long run!
