my 12 year old goes through stages where he is thunderbird mad, then the simpson, then spongebob.then he is collecting footy cards etc.i keep tossing out all the toys that he does not play with anymore and 6 -12 months later he is in to them again.what do you do with their old toys?

I have three words for ya, Rotate, Rotate, Rotate. Its way too expensive to try to keep up with their likes and dislikes. We have a play room, so the toys they are not into at the time go there. They keep the toys they are into in their rooms. ANd when they are really sick of something, they put it in the yard sale closet.(We have two or three every summer, so we collect things through out the year). If ya don't have a play room, you can get a big plastic tote, and put the toys that aren't being used in there and stick in the closet for that 6 or so months. Then pull it out, it's like Christmas morning all over again. Fill that tote back up with the ones that aren't being used and stick it away. Repeat until they have had enough, then donate or sell in a yard sale. We also have a rule that works wonders. No new toys are allowed in, unless something old goes out. This keeps us from being totally overwhelmed with play things in the house.

i'm not sure since you're not in the u.s., but do you have consignment shops where you live? Some will pay for toys to resell, or give you a split of the profits if you sell them. What about yard/garage sales? That is the only place I'll buy toys besides the ones I buy for gifts. You could also donate them to charity...or maybe see if you could start a freecycle group near you if there is not one already to join...www.freecycle.com Another thing you can do is make him earn the $$$$ to get the toys by helping around the house or neighbors... just some ideas :) i go through it constantly too...

yup they do, i mean not my children (not married yet) but my 7 yr old baby sister.... i don't know how she gets news on what's the latest trend in toys and games for her age, but she really amaze me all the time. but whenever she asks some toys, i always make some simple conditions like doing her assignment or simple cleaning up her mess or fixing her things....
