sleeping after lunch  email this discussion to a friend?

i enjoy sleeping very much. in fact if i don't get my usual quota at night, i am really groggy the next day.
i also love my sunday afternoon sleep. especially, after a hearty lunch. but the problem comes after waking up. i find myself moody, irritable, and often depressed for no reason. i do have these strange dreams, where i want to wake up, but i feel so very helpless to do so. i find that my senses do not obey my will...
all this makes my after-sleep mood very bad. i find myself snapping at everyone for no reason.
so, these days, i have bid a goodbye to my afternoon siestas and spend that time watching boring movies in the television instead.

Lack of sleep really affects your mood. Anyways, I do not usually sleep after lunch but I do oversleep during weekends. :)

Hi pree70,
The problems you are facing after getting from your afternoon sleep is not connected to sleep. It is because of some stress you might have underwent during your work. Which is more common for many people.Just be calm for 15 to 30 minutes on the bed itself after you have wakenup from sleep.This will solve your problem.Telling to you scientifically, when we get up from bed the sleep centres in the brain will undergo some changes and Active centres will take charge. In your case it is taking little more time. This not a disorder or disease.So, do not get worried over this.

I always get super sleepy when-ever i get stressed out, which doesn't help because I'm normally only stressed when i have a lot to do.

I get up at 5 a.m. in the morning and go to sleep at 11.30 or 12 midnight. And throughout the day I am busy in the office and household works. So I do take 30 minutes for afternoon nap. It makes me feel fresh with new vigour to start the work for the rest of the day.

hmmmm...that's strange. you should be rested so you shouldn't be cranky after sleep. i also like to take naps in the afternoon, and yeah, right after lunch like you. i feel so sleepy after a full meal. but what i usually feel when i wake up is that i feel so tired. but this is usually helped by a cold shower. that would perk me up and then i would be fine.

anyway, i think the bad dreams are caused by your full stomach. how full are you when you lie down to rest? amybe you should cut down on your food intake, or if not, try to walk around the house a little before hitting the sack. that way, your body has started digesting the food already before it hits rest mode.

Yeah I love sleeping too, but it has a different effect on me. I feel very good after I have taken a nap. I am in a bad mood when I am not able to get any sleep.

Supposedly some foods can make you sleepy. Like turkey.

Hi Pree,that makes the two of us...I always must have my 7 to 8 hours of beauty sleep at night.But I do not sleep in the afternoon.I have the same problems that you have.I become off mood ,and I become restless at night.So I just lie down for 15 minutes in the afternoon,to rest my tired limbs,that's all.........Happy mylotting friend.

Hi there pree70!

We have one thing in common and that is sleeping after lunch. In my workplace, it has become my routine that I really sleep a few minutes after taking my lunch. It gives me more energy for the rest of the day. When I can't take a nap during lunch break, I really feel so weak in the afternoon that I could hardly concentrate on my work.
