Christmas music

I guess I'm a die=hard oldies/original christmas music fan. i hear these current singers singing a song and adding in the oh's and ah's and long notes and other embellishments and it just isn't the christmas song. Can't stand to listen to it.

I think my favorite will always be The Holly and the Ivy, simply because George Winston's rendition of it is so beautiful. I had actually never heard the song before listening to George Winston play it, and after I heard a more original version of it, I was quite disappointed. It was like listening to a car drive down the road with square wheels. He made the song sound so much smoother (round wheels), and the phrases glide the way I expect them to glide.

I have always liked The Carol of the Bells, probably because I am big on multiple voices (it's probably the choir girl in me).

My all time favorite Christmas song is "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" by Gayla Peevey. It is the silliest, stupidest thing that I've ever heard and it absolutely makes me giggle every time I hear it. It totally gets me in the mood for Christmas.

My favourite christmas music is an album by Corinne May. It has the traditional carols but sung in a new touching way.

I also like the traditional carols Hark the Herald Angels Sing and O Holy Night. I'm singing a medley of songs in church on Christmas service but that's a new arrangement including some lines from Angels we have Heard on High.
