|  Sure I believed in Santa when I was a kid, and I wasn't to depressed when I found out he wasn't real. Why is it such a huge thing to keep your kids believing in Santa? Isn't the true meaning of Christmas the birth of Jesus and the wisemen bringing him presents? I mean there was never really a Santa right, just a saint or something that would give presents to the poor children or something like that?
I don't know. My boyfriend is all about keeping the fantasy alive for his children, he enjoys it...so I think it is more for him, but in my opinion it doesn't really matter to me whether or not my son gets a present from "Santa". Isn't the true meaning about giving and family anyway? Hmm.

| |  Santa just adds a little magic for kids. Lets get something straight, I do not in any way teach my daughter that gifts are the true meaning of christmas. I teach her how important giving is. Each year we go shopping for a few toys that she picks out to donate to toys for tots. She knows the whole story of Jesus and his birth. She is growing into one of the most sensitive and thoughful little girls I have known and I have many people comment to me on how giving and unselfish she is. The true meaning of christmas is alive and well here, but yet she's an innocent child who I think deserves a little extra magic as an added bonus to everything else about christmas.

| | I agree. And kudos to you for your daughter and bringer her up right. I just get frustrated b/c kids like my sister who is 13 and my boyfriends kids (whom I love dearly don't get me wrong) all want "this" and want "that" for Christmas and...I don't know...I just don't have the money, we don't have the money. Let alone to get gifts from "Santa" too. So, I just don't know if I want to get to hugely into the whole Santa thing with my son who is only 3. You know? | | | |

No but I think there's nothing wrong in alittle 'magic' now and then. Family etc is great ofcourse but you can have that most days, this one day should stand out and I think it's just opinion but it's nice to have a fantasy element to it. it makes life interesting ;). Good luck

| |  Don't you build a Presepe at christmas in your country?
It's a small representation of the nativity, with Mary, Joseph, little Jesus, the 3 kings and a bunch of angels and peasants.
I think it's better than the Christmas tree, because it's fun to do for the kids (I did it with clay when I was little. It came out horrible but I had the time of my life :D) yet it still reminds them that we are talking about Jesus, who, indipendently from our religion, is one of the most important people in history.
