Favorite Christmas Songs

What are your favorite Christmas/Holiday songs? I'm referring to the non-religious, pop-music genre for this discussion because it just isn't fair to compare a traditional Christmas carol with, for example, Jingle Bell Rock. So, what are you top three all-time favorite popular holiday songs? I don't care how old or how new because so many of them are timeless classics. Personally, I HATE White Christmas - I don't actually hate the song, I just hate the sentiment! I'll be quite fine if we DON'T have a white Christmas, thank you very much! My list includes "Come Home For Christmas" by the Eagles, "Last Christmas" by Wham and "My Grown-Up Christmas List" by Natalie Cole. There are lots of other great ones, but these are the ones I thought of off the top of my head. What are yours? Annie

I also like 'Last Christmas' by Wham. I think my favorite is 'I Believe In Father Christmas' by Greg Lake. Other favorites are the Bing Crosby and David Bowie duet, 'Little Drummer Boy' and 'Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire' by Nat King Cole. Nice topic!

i like 'chestnuts roasting on an open fire"... i think the real title is Merry christmas to you or something like that. love it when nat king cole sings it. I also like "i'll be home for christmas" if only in my dreams... And i guess a third for me would be "let it snow let it snow let it snow!"

One of my favorites is Jose Mari Chan's Christmas in Our Hearts, and the lines I love most are: Let’s sing Merry Christmas and a happy holiday this season, may we never forget the love we have for Jesus let Him be the One to guide us as another new year starts and may the spirit of Christmas be always in our hearts

I loe "All I want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey. I also like "Please be home for Christmas." The benefit song, "Do the Know It's Christmas" is also a very nice song.

Happy Christmas/War is Over, I think that's the John Lennon song. I love that one too, and I wish it could be fitting today. Annie

LOL on White Christmas... snow is pretty to look at from the INside but I hate having to shovel it, walk around on icy sidewalks and most of all, drive in it! And if I hear "Let it Snow" I want to throw something at the singer or the speaker LOL! But to get back to the subject... three winter holiday songs that I like are John Lennon's "Happy Christmas War Is Over" because of the sentiment, and also I'm a huge Lennon fan. I grew up hearing Judy Garland's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and I still like it's bittersweet lyrics, and Judy's beautiful voice. And I love the sweet message (and Ian Anderson's flute) of Jethro Tull's "Fire At Midnight"
