My daughter and I just finished making some red and green Rice Krispy treats for Christams. I am dieting so we didn't make the usual array of calorie-laden items! What have you baked or made special to have around for the holidays?

Yum! love those Rice Krispy treats. I haven't made anything yet but I will be starting later on today. I will be making fantasy fudge 2 batches,2 cakes, one choclate, one white,6 loaves of banana bread, cinnamon buns, frosted sugar cookies, peanut butter cookies,no bake cookies, peanut butter no bake cookies, peanut butter fudge and lastly potato candy. And that is what I make just to give out since money is tight and it is easier to make it and it also makes those who like it feel better because they are getting something atleast. I will try to control myself but thankfully my diet doesn't start until the new year. Well, that is just the goody stash.. I still have to make alot thought for the Christmas dinner the family is going to have early this year so everyone can spend the actual day with their own families. Well, Happy Holidays and may your new and upcoming New year be blessed.

I picked up a recipe folder from my bank in my local grocery store. It had a recipe for sour cream banana bread, and since I had overripe bananas, it was a done deal that I would make it. It made a huge amount, supposed to be four medium size loaves, but since I did not have that size, I made a dozen muffins, eight miniature loaves and a standard loaf. I will take that loaf to the Christmas brunch at church tomorrow, unless our whiteout conditions cancel church again this week. My daughter was visiting and I had this for breakfast with crisp bacon one morning. She said that she liked it because it did not taste too banana-y. I figure it was the sour cream and the cinnamon. For another breakfast we had baked french toast made with french bread. That was good as well.

Well, I just made to loaves of bread (one for my godmother and one for my godfather) for Christmas. I've made some tree ornaments for my mother/father and sister/family. I made some special ornaments for my sister and her family. For my parents, I made a very special wreath. I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of their gifts this year!!! I'm more excited about that, than I am with wanting to see what I've got for presents.

Puzzle Wreath - This is the wreath that I made for my parents this year for Christmas. I had some cardboard laying around that hubby cut into a circle cut-out for me and spray-painted it green. I then hand-painted all the puzzle pieces and glued them to look 3D. Then I took some Scrabble letters and glued them on. It still needed something else, so I added shiny red beads for the "berries". Then, to finish it off, I "found" some items in with all my Christmas stuff and made the bow from that.
Here is a picture of the wreath that I made for my mother and father.

Well so far I have made peanut butter fudge today. I also have plans to make no bakes and then tomorrow chocolate chip cookies. I'll probably bake some muffins for christmas morning. They make for a good quick breakfast before we have to go all over town visiting relatives.

Hi Crazynurse, That is so sweet that you and your daughter get to do somethings together. We always made Ritz cookies for Christmas. My husband have been making them for awhile, so he always seems like an expert when he makes them. I on the other hand, still need more practice. I only got a chance to bake them like twice in two years in a row. I am looking forward to bettering the way I make them. LOL. :)

I don't make anything special around the holidays. I just bake whenever I want to The last couple of days, I made a few little brownies and blondies. I looked up recipes online and made them from there. I occasionally bake, but I don't make my own creations.
