I Actually Turned On My Television Today

My friend came over and told me that there was an I Love Lucy marathon on. I had not even pluged my television up since August 9, 2007. It was my birthday and there was an earthquake at around 1:00 a.m. and I turned it on to see how big it had been. I really enjoyed watching Lucy today. After my friend left, I laid down on my bad and just laughed and had a really good time. The weird thing about it is that even though I know every thing that is going to be said, it is still so funny to me when I hear it. I wonder if I will ever get tired of watching her. I can see myself at 80 years old with my great-grand children LMAO at my favorite red head.

I used to watch I LOVE LUCY when it first came on and we would not miss a single episode. Even now, I will watch a few episodes now and again. I do not know what my favorite episodes, because there were so many. The best ones were the one about when she worked at the factory, and when she was bugging William Holden, plus the one where she was demonstrating that tonic and got really drunk. Oh and the one where they all upstaged Ethel, especially when Fred kept bringing in those potted trees and when Rickie did that man eating tiger.

Yes, those are all favorites of mine also. I really appreciate the innocent nature of the show. There is so much crap on television now. Even while I was watching Lucy, I saw some pretty shocking commercials.

Even more incredible than watching Lucy, is the fact that you haven't used your TV in over 4 months. Now, that is what I call fantastic. Other than the great Lucy reruns, you haven't missed a thing.

Believe me, I know. There is not a lot of quality new stuff, so I don't even bother with t.v. much anymore.

I Love Lucy is the ultimate timeless classic! She was and still is an original; there have been comediennes who have been touted as the "next Lucy" but in reality none have come close! And this isn't meant to be a put-down of those who came later, just a fact. I have to ask, how in the world did you go so long without having your TV on? I know it's a "vast wasteland", as it's been called for years now, but it kind of keeps me company. I guess I have it on sometimes just for the noise! Annie

That is where you and I are opposite. I turn it off because of the noise. There have been times when I had my television on at the normal volume and I will be running around doing things. The noise will be getting on my last nerve and I don't even realize it until I reach up to turn it off. Then, there is a big sigh of relief. I use to watch television a lot more, but there is too much drama and it stresses me out now.

I will be right there with you watching her too. I think that her talent tops all others and that she will always be funny even if I have seen the same thing 100 times. I think that she was a true American classic comedian and a real lady!!

I like I dream of Jeannie also. I am not too familiar with Hogan's Hero's, but I know that I like the older stuff a lot better than the new stuff.
