CLAY MARBLES Inherited 300+ I don't collect or know anything about them.

Hi, just inherited two jars marked "clay marbles" all sizes and colors, about 300+. Uncle used to find them on his Midwest farm when plowing and then started digging for them as a hobby, and wherever he traveled. I remember him saying the Indians used them and even the soldiers to gamble with during the civil war. I played marbles as a kid, but with glass marbles. I don't collect and would consider selling but I know very little about them. How can an item like this be verified as to who used them, how and where, since there are no no markings?
