My 5 year old daughter has complex partial seizures, she hadn't had a sezuire since July, when Friday night, after playing with her bubby all day(he came up from W.V.) she fell asleep and with 10 minutes had a one minute seizure. It was a very short and mild one, this is the shortest one she has ever had,so that is good since it had been so long inbetween the seizures, but it stills upsets me. I was hoping she had outgrown them, she also has C.P. and I have heard sometimes they do outgrow the seizures. Is this common,to go so long and then have another? What has your experiences been with this kind of epielpsy?

I'm sorry this happened during the holidays! I don't have any experience with this so can't comment, other than hope like you, that she will outgrow them. Take care.

Sorry that your daughter had another episode. I don't know anything about epilepsy, but I would think since it had been six months since she had her last one and this one was for only a minute, that would be a good sign that she is outgrowing them. It is understandable with you being a mother that this would upset you

I'm so sorry. I have heard that they can happen at any time. Is she on meds? If so, maybe it is time for an adjustment. I hope she don't start having them all the time. I would check with the doctor.

Yes she is on trileptal, and they asked us to up the meds again, she now takes 6 ML twice daily. I was hoping they might be over but I will keep the faith and maybe they will stop. Thanks for being a good friend :)

Hmm. i think it was good as it was not massive attack. But I have seen my cousin who used to have this attacks had outgrown this gradually. I think it will happen the same way as your daughters. You can consult the doc to cheack why it appeared again.

Sorry to hear about your daughter. Could it have been caused from the excitement? Or getting overly tired? My granddaughter has seizures but they are so mild we sometimes miss them. She tends to have them when she gets too tired or excited. She just stops and stares into space for a little while. Hers were caused from a car accident that traumatized her head. She does seem to get them less often now. I just hope and pray that your daughter gets better and out grows the seizures. Do you have a dog? They sense them before they happen. Have a safe and Merry Christmas

Well I do hope things get better for your granddaughter. It is difficult with seeing any kid go through this. I really she was realy excited to see her bubby, yes I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and they sit with me while I watch her every night. I will keep an eye out for cues from them.

Hi babyangie27, I am sorry to hear epilepsy of your child. Kindly note seizures are, because of a disorder in the brain and any disorder pertaining to brain can only be suppressed and cannot be treated fully. You have to give your child the medicine in correct time everyday. a Slight time difference in medicine will make the child to have a seizure. I think that would have happened in your child's case. The medicines have to be given without skipping even for a single day. The medicine will suppress the disordered place of the brain inactive. In case the supply of medicine is delayed the purticular part will get active and lead to seizures. So ensure that your child takes medicine regularly. You need not worry much, because when age progress there will be changes in brain activities and the disorder may set right by itself. Till that time the child has to take medicine. As long as the intake of medicine is regular the attacks will not come and even if they come due to any reason the attacks will be simple and last only for few seconds. While I pray to the god to ensure the well being of your child I once again remind you of the regular and timely medication.
