I'm so surprised that there is nothing about Louise Erdrich here. She is the most amazing author! I ran across her book The Beet Queen many years ago, loved it so much, looked for anything else by her and started on a journey that has been such a great delight in my life. Her books are centered around the people in the Ojibwe native American tribe. The characters she creates are so real, so true, and the way she writes is far beyond my descriptive capacities. All I can say is look for her books, read them. I feel like I'm opening a gift every time I start a new one. And when I finish, I always feel such thanks for having been given that gift. You'll know what I mean........ Do yourself a favor.

Eloquently? Thanks so much for that. I do fight her corner - You're right about that. She's well worth fighting for. You are clearly an intelligent person with an open mind -and when Louise Erdrich enters it, you will be an even better and bigger person. You'll know of what I speak after you read her. Please, please let me know what you think after you finish one of her novels (or in the middle of it, if the spirit moves you). I will look forward to hearing from you again!
