Recovery Homework #2 We are now working with the second line of the Serenity Prayer. Your assignment is to list some things that you Can change about yourself. My list is: I can change my job, my house, my hair, my clothes, my co-dependency, my attitude. I can change by not allowing others to bargain with me to get what they want, not allowing others to bully me and finally not allowing others to tell me what and how to feel. I can also change by allowing myself to be happy. I can quit being angry. I can grieve. I do not need to carry guilt. I can move on and forward. I can quit looking back. I can take care of myself first instead of last.

Ok, honey. You don't get out of this easily. hehehe The key word in this is "Courage". So take a minute and figure out what you have the courage to change in your life. Pick one or two things to start with.

I can change how I feel about myself. It is hard, but I am trying. I can change my negative outlook. Things can be ok for once in my life and I don't have to always be waiting for the ball to drop. I can stop trying to make people accept/like/love me. They can like me or not.. I can stop caring whether or not they do. (p.s. I can change the paint color on my walls in my new house... and I DID.. go me !! woo hoo )

This is something my counselor pointed out to me also. I can change simple things like what I look at daily in my home. So I took a lot of things off the walls and now I am cleaning the walls. When I put things back up on the walls, I can do it differently. I can rearrange my furniture also. It is amazing how the simple things help me feel better.
