i visited Disney for the 3rd time in the last few years. I had a great time, but, saying that I was not so impressed with Orlando, it has grown and grown and now it seems there are sub divisions upon sub divisions of rental houses all looking the same.
Actually, with that in mind and the prices it is worth considering staying at Disney. We factored all of this in on our last visit and it worked out benefical for us to "camp" at disney(although we stayed in a rental house), get the food plan, free parking and discounted entry tickets.

Welcome to America. Cookie cutter subdivisions are the norm these days. My best friend is a paramedic and I've heard him gripe about every 4th or so house is the same and they all have tiny little house numbers on the houses that are either black or a dark color against dark siding so they don't show up. Used to you could say I live in the blue house with the black roof, but now in these cookie cutter subdivisions, every 4th house is blue with a black roof.

Disney is one place I've never been but want to go.

Thanks for responding. It is well worth going. If you can afford it stay at disney, if not, I would suggest a hotel near International Drive as IMO that was the best place to find anything. It really does take some in depth research before you go though, as the costs can rise dramically. One year we wanted to go to Sea World(which I think is fantastic), but, the tickets were $40 each, so, we took a time share tour. Prior to going to the time share I locked my wallet in the car and only took in my driving license, although, it was unnecessary as I just told them that I didn't have any money and they lowered and lowered the price until it had halved, which I still said "no". They then asked me what price I could afford and I gave them something stupid like $40 a month! Left with 2 free tickets and had a great time at Sea World.

I have been to Orlando Disney just once but have been to California Disney about 4 times. I have to say I enjoyed California more because it is more compact. However the last time I went I was so shocked at how dirty is was. I had never seen so much garbage on the grounds as this last time. We are planning another trip to Orlando maybe I will enjoy Disney better there this time as I know what to expect. We have always stayed in Hotels near by and never on site. It is just way to expensive and I am not so sure it is worth it.

It is expensive to stay on Disney, but, do your math first. Entry tickets are cheaper(a little) if you say at Disney. The food plan is available and it can say you a bundle and parking at the parks is free.
I am not saying it will be cheaper, but, look into it, you may be surprised.
Disney also offer "specials" where they will throw in the food plan free. I cannot remember, but, I think you can go to the Disney site and sign up to receive email notification of the specials.

I actually didn't think of that even though I know about the food plans..will some of them ... I will take this into consideration thank you!

When I mentioned the food plans to some people they turn their noses up and said it wasn't very good for the price. It cost us just under $40 per adult per day and $11 for the kids. It seems a lot, but, once you put it down on paper it's a great deal. You get counter meal(this means you don't get table service), sit down meal (waiter service) and a snack.
We found that this enabled us to eat at lunch time while still in the Disney Parks. It was very good, we would get so much food, that by the evening we were not that hungry and the quality was very good. Counter meals included the main meal, a desert and a drink.

The sit down meals take some planning and "the wife" did a great job calling ahead and booking into the hotels, where some of the meals were outstanding. The snacks could be a drink, ice cream or even a light snack like a baked potato.

I was somewhat against it at first, but, the wife convinced me and she was 100% correct. No complaints.

I am not rich at all. 3rd time in over 10 years! We save for it and then try and keep to a budget. Sorry to hear you are not so lucky.
