How many hours a day does a classical singer need to practice everday to become a professional singer? How many hours a day does a R&B singer need to practice everday to accomplish the same task. Approximately, how many years does it take?

there is never an amount of hours or days that one can practice that will make them a professional... you learn new tricks of the trade all the time throughout and to be considered a professional you have to be perfect.. and no one is perfect sorry to say

You don't have to be perfect to be a professional, you have to be good. All pro's make mistakes,it's how you cover that mistake that make you a professional.

What I ment is that no one is a professional. There is no way a person can acheive it as someone out there is always better but still they are not a professional.

Take for instance everyone considers truckers (semi truck drivers to be professional)

Sorry to say no one is that professional as the world and roads are always changing and there are new experiences always being thrown at them. I consider truckers to be experienced. As well you will find alot of truckers to say the same thing.

No on is a professional just experienced.

You are misinterpreting the word professional. All that word really means is one who receives money for the job he is doing.Although in the real world it means to be able to change and develop your own niche in your chosen profession. And seek perfection knowing it's almost impossible.I hope this has helped you.

By classical singer, you mean opera? An opera singer takes a lot more time to develop. But it really depends on what type of voice you have to start with.I knew a guy in The Performing Arts Center of the university I attended who could not sing to save his life. But he practiced really hard for 4 years and actually got hired for the San Diego Opera Co.It was technique and breathing that won him that job.Nothing comes easy,if you want it you have put in the time.

Thank you...your answer was well-swallowed:) Are you a singer? If so, what kind of music do you sing? Welcome to myLot by the way.

I have been singing for 57 years.I do mostly music from the 60's and 70's both country and rockn' roll.I also have done 3 albums 2 of which are online at Amazon,Itunes,Napster,eMusic and Rhapsody. Also if you go to last.fm you can access my artist page by typing in E.C.Davis.Any more info you need to avoid all the pitfalls just ask.

Well, a Classical singer needs to practice at least 3 hours or more to become a professional singer and to manipulate its voice and breathing. I guess that an R&B singer has the same task its the same thing it does not matter if your an opera, country singer you have to put the same amount of effort in order to acomplish the same goal to sing and be a good vocal interperter. years well it may take a while but remember practice makes perfect. Just see the guy Paul Potts from Britan got talent he is a cell phone seller and he sings like an angel if you can put time an effort to your passion you will accomplish anything.
