Guns don't kill people, People kill people

This is just abuse with the modern technologies. The revenge of the nature. Unfortunatelly the modern people are far away of their spiritual development and they are more aware of their primitive instincts.So without any spiritual discipline and moral values even the most innocent toy can be a weapon.

First off, I agree with you that gun control laws do not cut down on the amount of crime. If you want to know how little gun control laws work, ask any cop! However, everyone carrying a concealed weapon is not a end-all fix-all either. I know of a lot of law abiding citizens that I would cringe to think they had a concealed weapon! And a good percentage of criminals are also druggies, which means you have no idea how they are going to react. They would not necessarily run the other way. The number one thing we need to do in this country is make some examples, you do the crime, you do the time, period, no getting off early. The cops do their job, then the lawyers and judges don't carry through with theirs.

The only people that I could really picture buying guns are those who strictly want to use them for violence with the odd exception of people who want to buy them for protection although that could be a major lie.

This is how the saying goes:

"If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns."

If you made owning a gun illegal, then criminals who get their hands on guns would know that they have the upper hand. But if, for example, a mugger would never be certain whether their target is armed...that's just an example. Crime WOULD go down because even if only a percentage of law-abiding citizens owned the guns, that would be enough to make a lot of criminals, especially the pettier ones, think twice about committing the crime they were planning on committing.

I see no problem with allowing responsible, law-abiding citizens to even the odds against armed criminals.

i agree with you about the gun control laws having no effect on crime rates.pro criminals are not affected by it anyway.but if we look at the present society the thing is home related voilence is on the rise [spouse killing the other in a fit of rage] worst still kids taking guns of there parents and shootout in school is happening.
just recently a case happened in india where a kid took his father gun and shot his classmate to death on some petty reason, so i think restriction should be there.

I believe that guns don't kill people, but they directly influence them. It's easier to fire a weapon at somebody than to get a rope and hang the other. The number of crimes increase when guns are released to citizens. There are many people that, if you step on their foot, they'll try to fight with you. With guns, they'll simply kill you. You cannot defend from a gun. You cannot do anything about it. However, you can run if the person is holding a knife or a rope. So, guns don't kill people. They help doing so. After all, they are WAR INSTRUMENTS. Their production should be stopped, in my opinion.

I agree that guns don't kill people. Because people use the guns and guns wouldn't trigger by themselves if a person doesn't do it. It's about the person, not the gun. Guns should have to be in good use and shouldn't be used for abuse.

this is one of those debates that will never end, if a gun is just sitting on a table, harmlessly no it won't kill a person by itself.

But in a sense yes guns do kill, but they need help from someone to pull the trigger.

Ok, so where does this leave us, stricter laws? Not sure then people just go to the black market and buy more illegal guns.

Completely make it illegal to own guns? Then people cry about the unfairness and their constitutional right to bare arms.

no matter what this will be a very very sticky subject.

And on that there is no easy answer or solution to.

My husband is a retired cop and this topic always amazes him. I have heard him say many times that by taking the guns away from law abiding citizens with these gun laws would do nothing about the real problem and that is controlling guns that the criminals have. Does anyone really believe that by passing gun laws it will make all the bad guys all of a sudden say.."ooops, can't have a gun because there is a new law restricting that". Geez, they don't follow any laws now.

It seems slowly all our rights are being taken away and one day we will wake up and wonder where they all went. I'll tell you where they all will have gone, taken one at a time right from under our noses. It's time we woke up as a country and took a stand.

I believe that gun control laws will never 100% efficient in the public. Guns can be purchased legally and illegally in many places. There is no way of compeltely stopping people from carrying firearms around with them whether it's to protect yourself or your family, or just a ignorant young adult trying to look cool in front of his friends. Guns or weapons in general should be used for only one reason; protection. Even police officers know that firing a gun is only a last resort, when they have used up all of their options. But referring to your opinion, if everyone could obtain a concealed weapon for self protection, I personally think that the amount of violence would increase significantly because you need to be taught the consequences, and responsibility, that come with the choice of using a weapon such as a gun, for self defense.
