I am curious, what did you think of it?
We just took my son tonight and I read the book before going. I had an idea of what to expect. The movie was nothing about the book. The movie was more anti-establishment than anti-religion (minus calling the daemons souls, there really was no religion to me in the movie). My poor husband who had not read the book was confused in many places because there was not a lot of explination. He is reading the entire book tonight to help fill in the gaps.
Overall, I don't see at all what the fuss was about. Even after reading the book, I didn't see the major issues people were freaking out over.
I guess I was just expecting more....

Thanks for your thoughts on the movie. I have read the trilogy (hope I spelled that right) and wondered how the movie would be. I will definitely be waiting until it comes out on dvd to watch it then. I did check the author's website to see his views and it does seem that he is very anti-religion. I will also make my kids and husband read the book too before we watch it. The same was true with Eragon. If you didn't read it, it didn't quite make sense. But if you did read it, there was great dissapointment.

Personally, I would not even waste my time with seeing the movie if you read the entire trilogy. The movie doesn't even end the same as the book! Even Harry Potter ended the same. The author has said that he is atheist and those views are shown in this series. Even the original title has to do with God.
