Star Wars Gaff |

I happened to come across "Return of the Jedi" on TV the other day and in one scene Luke and Leia are talking and Leia mentions that she remembers her mother a little. I then recall the end of the 'Revenge of the Sith" when Leias' mother Padme dies in child birth. Small, but, I suppose that is what happens when you make movies that many years apart. I was also shocked to find out that Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are both now over 50! How time flies.

1. SukiSmiles (1564) | 2 years ago | So true! I had not thought of that before. But it's been a little while since I actually sat down and watched it. I still remember seeing Star Wars in the theatre and how I had to sit on the floor because there were no seats left.

justabloke (240) | 2 years ago | I remember seeing it for the first time, I was 14 or 15 in one of those big old movie places where one could sit upstairs or downstairs. My biggest memory is the sound the spaceships made as the cruised from one set of speakers to the others.

2. shakeroo (2387) | 2 years ago | Geez... I did not realize that. I bet not many people would notice that when they are very engrossed with all the special effects and other stuffs. I must go and watch that part again. Thanks for sharing this fact.

justabloke (240) | 2 years ago | To be honest, I only noticed it as it was the only part of the Return of the Jedi movie I saw and I had seen Padmes death the week before on the last film. I am not normally one to notice these types of things, but, it struck me as this was a major part of the Return of The Jedi as it was the first time Leia discovered she was Luke's brother.

| 3. ByronEA (30) | 2 years ago | I was under the impression that Leia didn't know she was adopted until Luke told her Anakin Skywalker (aka, Darth Vader) was both their father. So, perhaps she is referring to her adopted mother (whom she believes to ber her real mother. This interpertation, however, implies that her adopted mother died when Leia was young. I'm npt sure what facts in Star Wars contradict/support this, though.
Peace!

justabloke (240) | 2 years ago | I think Leia's adoptive mother died in the first Star Wars movie when the Empire destroyed Alderan, by which time Leia was a grown adult.
| |
|
|
| ByronEA (30) | 2 years ago | But did the movies ever say that Leia's adoptive mother was alive up til that point, or is it silent on the issue, letting us come to our own conclusions? Personally, I don't remember. I've been meaning to have a Star Wars Marathon again (watch akll six movies, in order), so maybe I'll do that this weekend. When I do, I'll get back with you on it!
Peace!

|
justabloke (240) | 2 years ago | I think you are right, that Leia mother is not mentioned by name as dying on Alderan, but, why would Luke ask Leia about someone he had never(presumably) met?
| |
|
|
| ByronEA (30) | 2 years ago | I don't specifically remember the conversation (I'll have to watch it when I get time this weekend), but maybe it was his way of leading up to, "Hey, you're my sis! Not only that, our father is Darth Vader!"

4. mode09 (142) | 2 years ago | I think it is because Lucas did not have all these movies thought out as the urban legend claims. Sure he may have had bits and pieces in his mind, but that's all they were. I believe Start Wars "Episode IV" was originally just it, nothing more, but made to look like it was a part of a series. The overwhelming success of Star Wars gave fuel for Lucas to come up with a sequel. My theory is he did not even have Yoda concieved at the time of the Star Wars birth. As time went by and living the good life from his brainchild project, details like this just slipped through the crack.

justabloke (240) | 2 years ago | I think you are probably right. Even though, it was an incredible set of movies, with a good continuing story line. Do you think the TV series he is doing is going to be any good?

|
|
mode09 (142) | 2 years ago | It is hard to say. TV series usually start out good, but it does not take long for one to "jump the shark"
