Kreacher in the Movies  |

 I read somewhere that when they were making the film Order of the Phoenix, the screenwriters/directors decided not to include Kreacher until JK Rollings told them that if they didn't it would cause problems in the later films. This was before the release of the Deathly Hallows book, where Kreacher is a much more involved character.

1.  Phaedra_Scythe (1330) | 7 months ago |  I know that with time constraints, a lot of stuff has to be cut from the films because the books are so long and involved. It can't be easy I'm sure.
Cutting Kreacher would have been a big mistake though because they'd have to hurriedly introduce him at a later stage or completely change the story.

 justabloke (242) | 7 months ago | That's a good point, thanks for bringing it up. I wonder how they can make the deathly hallows into a successful movie without totally ruining the book. The book has so much going on, unless they make it 2 hours of non stop action I fear they will have to leave out huge chucks of the storyline.
Maybe, they should split it into 2 parts? | |

Rowling... there was a need to add Kreacher in the Order of Phoenix film since Kreacher will play a vital role in the Deathly Hallows in which he will reveal to Harry, Ron, and Hermione the fate of Regalus Black...
The film makers also said that they hastily added Kreacher in one or two scenes just to comply with what J.K. Rowling said...

3.  leeloo (156) | 7 months ago |  Adaptions of books into films are always very complicated as things that work in one medium might not work in another, and books have the added advantage that you see things in your own way. Also the fact that CGI animation is very expensive and time consuming, with a movie with so many special effects as these do, they were hopeing to cut somewhere I suppose. It would not be surprising that they try to avoid using Kreacher altogether as they did in with Doby in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (film) where it is Neville who finds the Room of Requirements and the various other changes as with the near absence of Snapes childhood memories, that are a major factor in the book. The fact that the book is so long results in a lot of cuts as the film which is limited for time. One day hopefully they do a television show or mini series in which all the amazing bits and parts of the books are shown. For now it means that we have to get an edited version, better then nothing I suppose.

| Ayannali (61) | 7 months ago | Alot of people complain when movies are too long because they try to incorporate everything in the books they are adapted from. What makes a good movie is when you can take all the major point, some of the minor points and make it flow nicely.
I believe Peter Jackson did it well with Lord of the Rings, since they are filming now .. we will just have to wait and see. | |

I've heard of that too, and it's comprensible since Kreacher plays a big part in book seven. But I think his role in movie five was so short that movie only fans will not remember about a strange elf who lives in Sirius' house
