how to change the default program files directory?  | | I want to install windows xp. but i want the program files to go to another directory preferably in ma d: partition. I also want new programs to install in another directory.

| | 2. shriniketsarkar (269) | 1 year ago | Well actually you cant do it like that .I mean you can install entire XP on another partition right from the basic but you cant install XP on C: drives say and want Program Files on Another drive. The best you can do is ... Go for installing XP on C: Dirve and then while you install programs choose the path of D: dirve and simply install all of them in D: drive. Make sure you create a folder in D: Drive and install every thing there. But you see this has a drawback.You machine will get a bit slower while accessing the programs which you have chosen to install on another drive.Reason being that windows takes time to access different partitions .I hope my answer suffices your needs ...Anything else let me know.
