who else has been fooled by the size of the colesseum in rome

i went to rome one year and had seen the colesseum on the tv it looked huge and i saw it for real it does not look half as big as on the tv, was anyone dissappointed with the size of it?
it is still a beautiful building in a beautiful city though.

I must agree with you on that. The colesseum does appear larger in pictures than it really is. I visited Rome for a day last spring and I stood in line at the Colesseum for about one hour. I think the history behind it is fascinating. Once I was inside I sat down and imagined what it would have been lik to attend an event there when it was still in use.
