I did a discussion awhile back on what I consider a conflict of interest when doctors do commercials for prescription drugs. Some of you agreed; some did not. Well, here is the latest. It seems that some members of Congress were also concerned with, not only doctors, but, famous people, in general, doing these commercials. The doctor I was referring to was famous for inventing the artificial heart, and touting a cholesterol-lowering drug. As it turns out, this "Dr." has never been licensed to prescribe medicine, as discovered in the ongoing investigation. I still believe that it is a dangerous thing to have doctors, or personalities, pushing these drugs onto the population. Your medication should be decided upon between yourself and your physician. What is your opinion?

I have to say that nowadays some doctors do this business and gain great profit from it. When I go to see a doctor, sometimes they will give me many expensive medicines which it is not necessary. It seems it already becomes to a trend.

It has become a trend, youless, and it needs to be stopped. I am hoping that Congress will do something about this situation.

I just saw this commercial last night, but didn't think anything of it, whether or not he was licensed to prescribe or not..
But regardless of who does the commercials, it still comes back to, what your doctor will prescribe..

I agree with you. What is sad is that most people who see these commericals Don't have a doctor to visit. Or they have a doctore but because of their HMO, they don't see him/her as often as they should. So it seems like all these commericals are geared toward well insured people .
