A Very Soothing Experience.

Foot Spa - Luxury... foot spa.

I have recently taken on some weekend work as a Barmaid, working seven hours during Saturday daytime, from opening, and six hours on Sunday evenings. After a break of some four or five years, from bar work, I've found this quite hard upon my feet, they being quite sore and numb by the time I get home. Well, a few days ago, I was talking to my Sister on the phone, and mentioned how tired my feet got, and she said that she had a surplus foot spa. I'd never dreamed of owning such a luxury, but it sounded good to me. I started imagining coming home from work and having my feet soothed by this contraption. On Sunday, my Sister gave me a lift to work, and when she came to pick me up, she arrived at the door with the foot spa in hand. We had a cup of tea and off we set for my work place. The pub was very quiet at first, but there being a quiz and Texas Holdem Poker on Sunday evenings, we got very busy, so I was rushed off my feet, so to speak. I kept thinking about the foot spa and longing to get finished and home to relax my feet. When I arrived home, I filled the spa, and added some oils and a little bath cream, placed my feet in, and switched on the massagers. Ahhhhhhhhh, such bliss. I sat for a while with my feet being pampered, and when I'd finished, I felt as though I hadn't been standing at all. I would thoroughly recommend a foot spa to anybody who suffers from tired feet. What is your most favoured luxury item, or way to pamper yourself?

My favorite way of pampering myself is to by the skin creams that have my favorite scent and slather the lotion on myself after every shower and often in between.

Oh yes, those too. I love anything with a lavender content, and Royal Jelly is pretty good, too. Brightest Blessings.

I'm in England so I suppose an equivalent might be The Body Shop. I will have to look out for Cherry Blossom. :)

WOWOWOWOWOWOW..... I envy you able to have a spa at home :P Imagine having a steam bath follow by a relaxing soak in the bath tub all in the comfort of the home. How I wish I could pamper myself thus.

So a foot spa gives us bliss. That can only be another asset added to the list of what a foot spa can do. Does it have bliss printed on the side (jokin). It sounds a good idea and I am sure it does what it is supposed to do. We don't realise how long we stand on our feet during the day and relaxation to some is not easy to come by. Bless you my friend.

That's true. I'm ok all the time customers want serving or other little tasks need doing and I'm walking about. It's when I have to stop... I can't put too much pressure on my left leg because I have a dodgy knee, so the right foot takes all the weight, and I tend to get very tired feet. The spa takes it all away in a matter of minutes, and certainly is bliss! :) Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. x

LOL I read your discussion heading "A very soothing experience" and the first line saying you'd started some bar work and thought "that doesn't make sense" - see it always pays to read through to the end haha! My best way to pamper myself is to veg out in bed with a good book with lots of pillows behind my head or to pop a Friends DVD in the machine and watch a few episodes (or few hours worth) to cheer me up! They never fail to make me smile! Foot spa wise, I had one years ago which I never used so gave it to mum who used it so rarely she also gave it away. When I feel the need to soak my weary feet, I have a pretty handy rectangular bucket which I half fill with fairly hot water and some foam bath or radox and soak my pins for 30 mins or so till they're all shrivelled :)

You're right... always read a discussion through to the end, because I, for one, have a habit of explaining the background first. lol. Having said that though, bar work can be relaxing at times, when regulars call in from week to week, and you have time for a good old chat. :) Right... back to the point... I used to do exactly what you do and soak my feet for ages in a washing up bowl filled with water and similar things... lavender oil is my favourite, and chamomile oil is good too. Just a little tip, my friend. Perhaps you can get Radox with lavender extract in it... I'm sure you can, as it's a very relaxing commodity. However, since I started using the spa, I find it a much more efficient and soothing remedy, as your feet are massaged underneath at the same time. I have to be careful with the water circulating and bubbling because it froths over the top if you leave it going too long. ha ha ha. Brightest Blessings for happy, and not tired feet, my friend. :)

You know when I was still working in the pub (can't wait to get back to it and I will by the end of the year!) I used to get tired sore feet too and I did sometimes use a foot spa but usually I was too tired to sort it out so my favourite luxury item was my other half - cos he would fill it up so I could use it! I don't know if you would call it a luxury item but I could not live without my heatie bags - you know the wheatgerm bags you zap in the microwave instead of a hot water bottle, I couldn't cope without a couple of those for my freezing cold feet! xx

Oh wow... I'm glad to hear you're going back to your bar work. I love the social side of the job... it's just that when you're standing around too long, it does play havoc with your feet, doesn't it? I've got to keep them fresh so that I can still go for my walks when I feel the need! :) I differ somewhat, to you, because I can't wait to get home, get the spa filled and relax. My bathroom isn't too far from where the spa is, so it's not too difficult. There's nothing nicer when you get home, to my mind. I use a hot water bottle, but I place it against my back, when I sleep. It helps me to drop off. I don't know why, but I used to find that sitting with my back to the open fire made me drowsy, so I guess that's how I find my comfort. I always prop it against the middle to top part of my back. Brightest Blessings my dear friend. xxx

I'm not into pampering, but I just wanted to say how lucky you are to have such a sweet and thoughtful Sister. Shalom~Adoniah

I have a foot spa, but I do not use it very often. I think I just do not take the time to pamper myself. My favorite luxury item is a paraffin bath for my hands, and the one I have is big enough for my feet. The paraffin has tea tree and lavender oil in it. It moisturizes and it soothes the pain, as well.

Your paraffin bath sounds good. You should use the foot spa every now and again... it really is soothing for tired, aching feet, and you can put your lavender oil and whatever else you want into it. Brightest Blessings.

Oh yes... I have a backscratcher which somebody brought me back from Spain, several years ago. The only problem is, it's wooden and carved in the shape of a hand, separating the fingers. This makes it a bit abrasive, so I have to use it on the outside of my clothes, but it beats all those itches you can't reach. lol. I sometimes rub my back against the doorframe, like a big ol' bear! ha ha My brother had a spa bath... it was great, especially when you came in from a walk on the Moors. I agree, they're very relaxing too. Brightest Blessings, my friend. Thanks for your 360 message by the way... I put a short answer in my blog comments, but I'll e-mail you as soon as I can find a bit of time. In the middle of cake-making again at the mo, so budgeting time on here. Take care. xx
