When will they run out of stories?

I know that soaps are tape WAY in advance, but does anyone know how far in advance? I would have thought with the writer's strike that they would run out of taped shows. Will they show re-runs when that happens? I don't know alot about the writer's strike, but it seems to be affecting more shows than others. I know it's the reason we've got a slew of the reality shows going on every night now - they don't need writers. Some of the night-time guys are coming back without the writers. I'm pretty sure the reason some of the "cancelled" shows are back on is because they already had the season written when it was cancelled - The Medium is one I suspect falls into that category. But, I would think this would affect the soaps, and they're still new. Does anyone know more about the strike or the number of shows that are taped ahead?

I think the daytime soaps do not count in the writers strike because they are not put out on CD or on the computer. The writers are striking to get a 4 cent increase on CD's and downloads. I think that is why we still have our daytime soaps.

I know they want the royalties from the future sales. But I didn't know if it was "universal" and they weren't writing for ANYTHING until they got what they wanted or if it was "compartmental" and they were picking what they were still writing for. I know that the late night hosts are not "writing" their own stuff, and I didn't think that CD sales were affected by them. Maybe if the strike does affect Days and they go off the air for a while it will give me a reason to stop watching one of the last things I do watch on TV...

I'm not sure how it works but I soon too hope it ends. I'm a huge Days of our lives fan and if the show starts repeating I'm not so sure that its gonna last long. They have already made threats that Days will be canned before the middle of 2008 and I hope not. Supernatural is another show that I watch faithfully and It has been slaughtered by the writers strike. There hasn't been a new episode in I can't tell you how long. They say there will be a new one Jan 31st and then who knows how long before another one airs. Grrr to the writers strike

I have also heard that this is the last Days year. In a way, that's a good thing because I should usually be doing something else when I'm watching it! But I've been watching for about 20 years so it's like a part of my daily routine...

According to my spoiler sites Days of Our Lives has enough taped to last through January. They can have some temporary writers come in and write the shows and then the writers strike won't stop the shows I have not heard anything lately though.
