Eating food with a face? What does this mean?

I've heard that some people don't eat food with a face. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it was becuase if they can't look the animal in the face, then they shouldn't eat it (or something like that). I'm not sure if I agree with this. Do they expect a sandwich to look like the picture I enclosed?Will someone please explain this to me? There is probably a good reason, I guess I dont understand.

From what I understand it means that those people do not eat meat of any kind, because the animal had a face. Some people don't even eat eggs because if the egg had been fertilized the chick embryo would have a face. In other words people who are vegetarians don't eat animal products.
