What are the differences between satanism and Luciferianism? If they are not really the same. For me I think they are from the same source- the devil.

Luciferianism dates back to the 18th or 19th century and is based on a belief in Lucifer being an actual being/god/higher power from what I understand. Satanism however is a far more modern philosophy based on NOT a deity (Satanists dont belief in "Satan" as a being) but the here and now in ones life if that makes sense..Satanists believe that WE are our own gods and should act accordingly if that makes sense..Its a philosophy of the self... I can't really tell you much more about Luciferianism and really good info is hard to come by but Satanism is a VERY interesting and logical path...and though many DON'T realize or care to admit it maybe, many of us already follow many of the Satanist beliefs ;-)

All I know is that Lucifer, refers to the planet Venus when it rises ahead the sun. I don't really know what luciferianism is. Satanism is a religion for some while others think that is not, that is philosophy. Satanism doesn't mean that you worship the devil and kill animals. They do believe in Satan but not in the way most people think. to answer the question they are not the same thing.

The two are different from what I understand. Luciferianism is the actual worship of lucifer. Where as Satanist are basically hedonist and do not worship Satan.

Lucifer is the LIGHT BRINGER. thats what it translates into, in the bible Jesus is said to be the light bringer, in the old testement Satan is the light bringer. HUH. my point though is Lucifer means Light Bringer, there is nothing evil in that.
