The Yankees Are Coming! The Yankees Are Coming!  | |  Okay...true story. Gone With the Wind is one of my favorite movies. The amazing thing is that my kids love it too. My husband bought me the DVD almost 6 years ago, and I swear the kids watched it more than me.
Anyway, about 6 months after he bought it for me, we moved to Chicago. Didn't have money to hook up the TV, so the kids could only watch DVD's. They watched Gone With the Wind over and over! Then, about 6 months after we moved, we're riding in the car and the radio guy announces that "The Yankees Are Coming!" Yep, the New York Yankees were coming to Chicago to play the Cubs in an exhibition game.
My youngest son, who was 5 at the time, burst into tears! He thought the Yankees were coming to Chicago to burn the place down! It took quite a bit to make him believe they were just coming out to play baseball.
This is one of those stories I just can't wait to tell his girlfriends when he brings them home!

| | | | | | | | 1.  neenasatine (2332) | 2 years ago |  Gone with the wind, a 1939 best picture is my most favorite movie of all times. it took me 5-6 hours watching it (including the break)...anyway i just borrowed it from uncle so i just watch it once... but it is a very long movie... i cannot forget the beauty but having a bad attitude of Scarlet O'hara (Vivien Leigh)...
with regards to actors and actresses the only living actress i know until now is Olivia de Havilland who portrayed the role of Melanie in Gone with the Wind.. i she still alive until now? is there any existing or living actor or actresses of Gone with the Wind..?

The Lord knows how much I want to discuss it with someone but for some reason, the people in my age group don't particular watch these kinds of classics anymore. I have influenced my friend to watch it though and I hope she likes it!
I have heard about Gone With The Wind since I'm such a movie buff since I was a kid but my family never got any videos, VHS or dvds of it but then lo and behold, I was able to find one at this small store that was selling rare and best pciture classics and there I found Gone With The Wind! I mean of course I wanted to buy the biggest top grossing movie of all time! I was totally enthralled and amused by the actors and the plot. I believed that despite it being nearly 4 hours long, I was able to watch it again and again too. The actors all played their parts so well and all the characters are endearing and you actually care for them. Unlike some movies nowadays wherein you don't give a crap about the characters. Scarlett was such a bitchy darling and Mammy's the best! haaha!
Man Gone With the Wind is definitely one of my faves now~! Lolz, I am so amused by your kids! It's a good thing you've exposed them to good movies at an early age, Well good luck friend!=)
