The Auto/Petrol/Government Industries will not change unless/until we start changing our habits and preferences. Complaining about gas prices and smog is really moot, considering it won't be long before we have exhausted international supplies and begun to refine and deplete our own. Prognostications aside, check these out when you get a chance. Sign up, write a letter, show interest, request information, create buzz, be an active participant in CHANGE. My children's children will really appreciate it ;-) Thank you for listening. Of particular interest to me is the Air Car. They have just hooked up with TaTa Motors in India (the maker of the no-frills, $2500 car in the media recently). They actually make a negative emission vehicle-you can sign up for info from their website. http://www.theaircar.com/ http://www.virgin-fuels.net/ http://www.fuelcellpartnership.org/ http://world.honda.com/FuelCell/ https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

I live in Canada. My husband drives and his car gets 35 miles to the gallon on the highway. However he is getting cataracts, and arthritis and may not be able to renew his driver's license the next time he takes the test and also I only have my government pension and will not be able to afford the license fees, etc. if I still had my driver's license. I do think the hybrid cars are a good idea. Right now the electric cars are only what I would call dinky cars, that only carry one or two passengers and maybe a small suitcase or a single bag of groceries. What has to be done is to make cars and vans for families that are economical and save on gas. I think Honda is making one. These little go-carts are not practical for families or even for couples who prefer to pick up their stuff rather tnen have it delivered. Oh then if one can walk to a place, and carry the stuff, one should. or get a grocery cart.
