When i watched the first two episodes last week... i noticed the huge crowd that went to the auditions... so i wondered if anyone here in mylot is a relative or knows someone who tried out or auditioned to earn a ticket to Hollywood...
The episodes that we watch on tv were already edited by the producers... i am quite curious so i want to want to ask if the craziness that we usually see in tv is the same for those who actually experienced it... one or two hours is not enough to show what is really happening so i hope i can get some insight to this matter...
Here in my country... i actually know someone who tried out for the Philippine Idol... he was able to pass the first set of audition but failed in the second one... he was quite bitter about it... and said that some of those who got in were backed by influential people in the entertainment industry... so is it the same with American Idol?...

i'm not in the US so i don't know someone who really participated in american idol.
i started a discussion on the auditions previously and it seems that some mylotters have distant relatives who went for auditions but did not make it to hollywood.
ultimately it's a TV show more than a talent search. so the things that get shown are edited for their entertainment value.

Well, it is a TV show that showcase a lot of talented people and also those who have the guts to show that they don't have any talent at all... those edited parts are the reason why i want to know the experience of those who actually tried out for the auditions... thanks for the response...

My old neighbor back from high school tried out for Canadian idol a few years ago, he didn't make it but I think it's great that he tried. He's big into the theatre scene and is taking it in school now I believe, I think he's more of an actor and performer than a singer...he does well though.

Wow, so your neighbor is living proof that being rejected from and Idol talent show is not the end of it all... it is nice to know that he is doing very well and that he is using his God given talent to its fullest capacity... my friend who did not make it to the finals is now very visible in corporate events... so the little exposure was a big help to him... thanks for the response...
