Can the Miami Heat turn this losing season around?

Maybe. If they stop loosing now, thaey can still do it. But referring to their lose column, its now hard for them to make it to the playoffs.

There is no way that the Heat will get better.

1. They got rid of many good pieces like Posey and Kapono.

2. Injuries to Mourning, Wade, Shaq, Williams, and others.. will infinately cripple their chances

3. Those aformentioned injuries will not heal addequately, except for Wade.

4. they are WAY under .500 as it stands and are going up against lopsided competition.


5. They have a point guard named Smoosh Parker that was suppose to be an integral part of their roster. Yet, he is not even playing.

6. The Heat currently have too many negatives to get over, and not enough positives to keep them competitive.

Looking back at the Miami Heat's bad season, I don't think it could have gotten any worse for them. They had a lot of players passing up games because of injuries, and the teams that they were able to assemble were composed mostly of mediocre players. The question now is: Can the Miami Heat turn it around this season, now that Michael Beasley's on board?

I don't think so. Even though the Heat got an upgrade - sort of - with Shawn Marion boosting their speed on court, they still have a long way to go in rebuilding their team around Dwyane Wade. They need a point guard, and by passing up OJ Mayo in the draft they lost the opportunity to use the draft to get that person they desperately need on their roster. Chris Quinn doesn't quite cut it for the job, and Jason Williams definitely can't be relied on to be healthy all season long. They should look into the free agency to get someone to fill in the court general position, a role Wade has already declined (he opted to stay at the shooting guard position).

Michael Beasley might be NBA-ready, but he's rebuilding material. The Heat could turn things around for its franchise by quickly rebuilding their roster with young players with huge upsides, such as Michael Beasley and Derrick Rose, but they must do it whole-heartedly and let go of their older players (Mourning, Williams). I'd even go as far as to say they should try to trade Marion for one or two good young players, because if it's just Beasley and Marion by his side come 2010, I don't think he's going to stick around for Miami. It would hurt for me to say they should let Alonzo Mourning go, but if this team really is interested in getting back on the winning track, there's no place for old veterans when they could be used as trading pieces for younger players with good potentials.

That's just what I think. Look at the Portland Trailblazers now. With Greg Oden, LaMarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy, and Rudy Fernandez all on board starting this coming season, they are sure to make a huge impact on the league now and in the coming years.
