South America, live and kicking at last?

With the help of Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales, Cristina Fernandez Kirchner, Rafael Correa, and, obviously, Fidel Castro, could it be that South America will recover from it's dark ages? Maybe the economy of this continent will be better in the future and, therefore, become as powerful as the European Union. What do you think? Will this Southamerican dream come true no matter how longer it will take?
