Well, listening to elders will be a right approach as they are sharing their experiences. But at the same time we should have our own judgement on a situation.Generally elders give good advice for our well being but what happens is out of generation gap sometimes the advice does not turn to be work out!but listening to elders is still worth.

In this generation sometimes the advice of the elders are really forgotten and not put in value. But for me, I respect their advice, their point of view, because I know that they have a lot of experience which lead them with their advices while i agree that I don't have yet that much experience so sometimes I listen to them. Hence, I still also believe that you can't be the person you want to be if you haven't fall. Sometimes it is helpful to experience the downfall so you will be a strong-willed person. It really depends on you if your going to follow the path that is already taken or want to experience that path?

If you did listen to your Elders, the one thing they taught you is the power of reasoning. Generation gap/or not, gleen the best part of their advice, add to your reasoning power.....and Voila, you are good to go!

Yeah i definitely agree with that "generation gap" thing. i think sometimes elders advices doesn't apply anymore on our world today. There is a real difference of their world in the past comparing it today. However, it is still good to listen to their advices. I'm not saying that all of their advices doesn't work anymore today, just some of it. Let us just pay respect about what they could say. It is still better to listen to them and try to comprehend what they could share. Atleast we have bases on what are we are going to do on a certain situation.

Oh wow this is such a great discussion! Growing up, I seemed to hear the same stories over and over again especially from grandparents. I didn't take a whole lot of interest at the time and rarely listened to their advice. What a silly young girl I was! I would give anything to still have my grandparents with me to day and to draw from their knowledge and life experiences. I guess especially now that I am a grandmother myself and wish I had listened more when I was younger, so I could pass some of these details on, so they do not become buried in family history when it should be living on...

Yeah... I agree, listening to elders to have some flaws but in general I love listening to elders. I actually sometimes volunteer at nursing homes and it's just fun and sad to listen to the elders there. It's funny how they tell stories of when they used to drink and party, and you look at them and think no way! But when you see how old they are and how much they miss their youth its so sad... If you think about it more, even you will be like. Omgsh depressing.
