It is always best to know what parts to buy before building it. Either you or your technician or friend will build it. Ask advice or call the computer store what they recommend. Remember if you're looking for a computer you want one that is stable, sufficient, stable, does not crash and not slow and has excellent performance. Who wants to deal with a computer that's going to give them problems in the long run? I wouldn't it and it even doesn't satisfy me to have a system running 1GB of RAM - 2GB of RAM is good for me in this day and age due to the fact the software applications use up a lot of RAM to begin with. If you were to ask me I'd say build an Intel System - why Intel? Well for one their new Core 2 Duo Processors and Core 2 Quad Processors are the monsters of machines that benchmark awesome performance with use of applications, data, graphics, gaming and multi-tasking. What does AMD offer less than the Intel, but good if you're a PC Gamer - well is that all AMD can do just rely on gaming? From my experience yes they do. If you were to ask me which RAM do I recommend for you well for one I'm a Kingston Value RAM guy so I'd stick to that one. If you're using a power machine it is best to buy RAM coolers to attach on your RAM sticks - the better use for your RAM and runs way much better. Hard Drive? Hmmmmmm Western Digital or Seagate. Motherboard? I'd say go with ASUS - Why ASUS? For one they are known for high quality motherboards - sufficient FSB and works well with the parts I have mentioned. - ASUS was made for quality! DVD Burners? Stick to LG - Why? Well for one I have a LG DVD Burner dating back having it since December of 2005 - not one time did it crash - it still burns CDs and DVDs to this day. What kind of Video Card? Hmmmmm tough call but hey if you like performance and graphics on those games stick to Nvidia. But still ATI's crossfire got some monster performance on those newer PC Games and from what I understand has less crashes than the Nvidia 8800GT cards. Make sure your system has good cooling - for your RAM, hard drive, processor, power supply, motherboard chipsets and your system case. If you ever want to buy good parts on sale I'd say go to Newegg or try TigerDirect.

i can see that you're an expert in building computers. you really love to talk about it and know what you are doing. i remember we went to naga city in that computer store i think called RCA computers or something and you needed the required parts to build and i remember that al your computers were intel machines. you never talked much about amd computers kasi you said they were not fast like intel. hehe i remember seeing your face when the places we checked for computer parts none of them had western digital you only had to buy samsung. i hope one day i can build my own computer and i know you can teach me that.
