legalize ALL drugs! |
|
I was debating with a couple people on moral laws, and the topic turned to drugs...
"if drugs become legal, the price of drugs would drop significantly.
drug stores would take over that industry, and the mafia and gangs could not compete with a legit company.
the 'bad guys' would go out of biz because they would need to compete with these guys. there would be no need for them to send drug dealers standing next to our schools, it would simply be unprofitable."
if drugs are legalized, there would be no need for them to lie, kill, and steal or even work for the drug dealer/mafia/gang. Why? ITS CHEAP AS HELL.
if they want to waste their life getting high, its completly their decision! and its cheap! A few cents here, a hit their..
druggies wouldnt do anything to stop them from getting high, and they are totally aware that there are no drugs in jail, so they would avoid that completly if drugs are cheap.

I dont think legalizing drugs will at all make gangs and mafia stop selling them. In our economy it is all about supply and demand, not matter what the product that is what drives the price. Since there will always be a demand for these drugs we need to get rid of the supply.

While it won't get rid of all drug-related gang activity, it would be foolish to think it wouldn't decrease it greatly. What's the point of buying from an illegal seller when you can get it legally at your local pharmacy?
More importantly, though, it is not the job of the government to control what we put into our bodies. It should be to make sure our actions do not directly harm others, and to respect our liberties. Drugs should be decriminalized not just because it will decrease drug-related gang activity, but because the government should have no authority over what we do to our bodies.

5. whywiki (3100) | 2 years ago | It would also free up the courts time by not having to prosecute people who partake in drugs. It would free up a lot of police resources that instead of busting someone for smoking a joint they could be out there getting violent criminals off the street.
