Passions has been canceled...again...however it may not be the end....

As many of you proabably know passions has been canceled a second time by direct tv... for those of you who don't know the details, Passions is the highest rated orignal program currently running on Direct TVs 101. However they had only took Passions on because they felt they would get x amount of subscriptions. When in fact they did not as they cut the fanbase to a third as many could not make the switch to Direct TV, others had no options and Canada were left out all together. When they didn't get the subscriptions they required they then decided to cut Passions. Normally if a show gets cancelled twice, its over. However this may not be the case as Direct TV was dishonest about their reasonings. Oxygen is thinkng of picking Passions up after its run on Direct TV and after emailing the Superchannel here in canada, I had recieved this: We understand that recent discussions regarding the carriage of Passions in the US has had Canadians talking. Super Channel wants to ensure you that as long as the show continues to be provided by distributor NBC Universal, it will continue to air Passions in Canada Sylvie Powell MédiaLane Communications Inc. PO Box 1264 Carleton Place ON K7C 4L3 (613) 290-1497 Which sounds as if as soon as direct tvs contract is up Superchannel plans to negotiate with NBC to keep the show alive and air it in canada. as long as its aired somewhere even in canada there will be a chance a states network will pick up the show... so possibly we are worring for nothing. Just because filming is ending in March for its run on Direct tv, does not mean the cast will not sign another contract with the Superchannel, who still seems to be interested in airing the show. Or another network, lets just see how things unfold over the next couple of months.
