How do you potty train your child? |
|
I have a 2 year old daughter. We are trying to potty train her now, since I think it's about time to rid of the diapers. (safe lots of money too). But we are having problems because she just wouldn't sit on her potty long enough and don't even know what's it all about. And I'm afraid if we force her to sit,she will cringe from it totally. Tell me your experiences and how and when you manage to do train.
Thank you!

We let our 2 1/2 year old run around half naked when she said she wanted to try, and yes, you wil have some accidents. Or go straight to underwear, and she won't like the feeling of wet underwear more than likely. Mine did not like little potties, but liked the ring, you may just need to play around a bit. But if she is hopping right off, she probably isn't ready yet, good luck, I'm rooting for you!

4. nyumix (1496) | 2 years ago | We did few times potty training with my daughter. Did not work until she need to go to school, then the teacher told her and did potty training too. Teacher promised her to give a present if she don't wear diapers when she go to school. From that moment she does not wear diapers in a day anymore. Only in the night, when she sleep, I still put diapers since she still can't control when she is asleep.

| 5. malachy8 (24) | 2 years ago | I have two boys and both were very slow to potty train.. My eldest was approaching 3 and I was getting concerned, when I discussed it with the pediatrician she advised he would do it in his own time, because it became a power thing he knew he was in control. So, I literally gave up and within just a few weeks, he was letting me know when he had to go or was going on his own. My second son, wasn't much better but again it was in his own time. So don't fret, she will do it when she is ready, remember although she is growing up she is still just a baby.

| 7. KhittiKhat77 (14) | 2 years ago | I remember potty training my oldest son. With him it was actually easy. I made it fun for him. I would read to him while he sat there. Of course there were the usual times when he would sit there for a while, then get up and pee on the floor. I decided to start potty training him when he was 22 months old because he was always taking his diapers off when he was wet, dirty, or just for fun. I figured it must be time to try. I think it sounds as if your daughter is not ready yet. Do you have other children, older ones? Do you let your daughter into the bathroom with you? Try that for awhile and see if she gets curious. Don't try to force her though, she'll let you know when she's ready.

8. ladyrainfx (197) | 2 years ago | When my son was 1 year and nine months we thought it's going to be very impossible to train him because he won't just follow. Several times when I have to go to the comfort room to pee I'd bring him along to flush for me and observe. At 2 years and 2 months he decided not to wear diapers anymore coz as he said mommy doesn't wear one. So it started it all, when he's feeling like making poo he'd come to me and lead me to the comfort room.
I think it pays to bring him to the bathroom now at 2 years and 4 months we no longer bother buying diapers. In the evening before bedtime he'd pee first that avoids the incidence of peeing on bed.

| 10. rockgirl (3) | 2 years ago | Hi! I just read your discussion about potty training your daughter. My daughter is almost 7 now, but I started training her about the same time as you around 2 years old. My daughter hated the potty as well, so we tried something different. I bought her a potty seat for the toilet. All it is is a smaller seat that goes on top of the toilet seat, the perfect size for little bums..........LOL. Anyways they come with stickers and stuff to decorate them. My daughter decorated it and then she loved to use the toilet. It doesn't sound like a lot of help but something that easy might just be the answer you are looking for. Try it and see.
