Party game suggestions please - my son is four next week and is having a party |
| |
| All my sons nursery school friends are having plush bouncy castle parties a thalls and things, but being on an limited budget (would much rather spend £60 on his present rather than hire of bouncy castle and a venue) I have invited a few of his round round to the house. At that age it is impossible for them to keep still for musical statues so I will start with one ball pond ball per child and then take one away each time the music stops whoever has gets the last ball wins, will also do the standard pass the parcel but would like some new and novel ideas to make it fun for him and his friends please. | | Unfortunately because of the time of year and a very small yard rather than garden it will be indoors, but the ball theme sounds fantastic. Have an extremely large lounge but no ball games as such allowed indoors so needs to be an indoor activity. Just wanted something different on top of the pass the parcel thing really. Thank you for your response and if you have any additional ideas that would be great. Ellie :D | | | |

| | Hi, Jacobs party went really well. He dressed up in a sportacus t shirt and had his special taking armbands and flew around the room whilst we played music and played pass the parcel and the ball gam eI mention. I popped out, leaving other adults in supervision and bought them all a Happy Meal, they never eat the sandwiches and sausage rolls anyway and saves on party bags as they get a toy, LOL, and he went to bed after they had all left happy and exhausted. thanks for all the suggestions, really appreciated. | | How about Musical Chairs? Duck, Duck Goose is another good game at that age. | | | | | | |

| | I remember a home school party we had when our daughter was 4. The children were allowed to decorate their bare feet with non toxic and very washable paints, glues, yarn, and such...Its a little messy but was a lot of fun.. Duck,Duck, Goose does go over well with that age. I don't know..I find most kids today bore easily with all the tv and video games they're exposed to early in life.. | | | |

| | Duck,Duck,Goose - the children sit in a circle on the floor..one child gets up and walk around the circle tapping each of the other children on the head and saying " duck, duck, duck, duck and then they tap a child's head and shout " Goose! " then the child that was tapping jumps up and runs to his left while the child that was tapped jumps up and chases that child...The first one to get back to the empty seating place on the floor wins..If the child that was tapping is tagged before he reaches the spot, the other child becomes the "goose" and gets to circle the others and say "duck,duck,goose".... The thing to watch for is kids tapping heads too hard, kids falling while running, or kids who like to force other kids to fall...I'm not a big fan of the game but very supervised it should be okay :) | | | |

| | Thanks for explaining, yes as it mainly boys I should imagine heads would get hit hard, room for the running round though, but will probably give it a miss, so so far I am on the original pass the parcel, musical chairs, and the ball game. I think he will have fun with heis friends anyway, whatever I do. Ellie :D | | | |

| | My daughter loved Sportacus! She even wrote him a letter once. I would go with that theme since he likes it. You could do health and fitness related games..lots of upbeat music that encourages movement, along with the cake and chips you should offer fruits and veggies ( but check on allergies with the parents) I'd have cut up fruit in a fancy carved melon or something they don't see everyday...Maybe some nice dips for carrots or chocolate for dipping fruit...For games you could have them bob for apples, have a big step contest, some type of endurance, see who can pop the balloon thats hanging the highest...the balloon popping game is always a big hit especially when the prize is inside the balloon or a number card to a prize is inside a balloon...Anything that lets them show their muscles and endurance like Sportacus does....a DVD to watch...The Nick Jr website probably has some print outs to color or craft and decorate with... | | | |

| | After reading other discussions, I found that you want to have an indoor party. If you have a white board or pinup board, then draw a cat. Tie the eyes of the kids with a towel and take them to the board. As the kids to draw the tail of the cat. It is real fun to see the other kids giggling and teasing when one is drawing the tail. Tie up blowed ballons on their backs and you could ask them to save theirs but break others. They will really have great fun. Play peekaboo in a different way. You could hide some toffees and cookies in some places and could tell the kids some clues and they could search for it. You will see kids sqealing with lots of excitement. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Thank you so much for your input. I will definately do the peek-a-boo hiding one with small gifts and sweets thats sounds like fun. Even though I don't fraw I can draw cats so will do that one too. Think I will give balloon one a miss as they are boisterous boys so don't want too much rough and tumble. Great ideas, appreciated. | | I think you're making the right decision. That balloon one sounds a bit older for 4yr old boys. I like the cat drawing. Might use that one myself. Already have a scavenger hunt planned...Hope you don't mind Ellie, sort of gathering plans for my daughter's party in two months ;) We can share right? | | | |

| | No of course I don't mind that what this site is all about, sharing thoughts and ideas. How old is your daughter going to be? I have two daughters but they are 21 and almost 17 so its a few years since I have had to organise anything for little ones. For my daughters 21st she wanted a silver and pink colour theme and choloclate fountains with strawberries and marshmallows. We hired a dj and hall and she had a fabulous time. They put happy 21st banners across the bridge so she saw it as she arrived in town. Ellie :D | | | |

| | Hey how bout the ol clothes pins and the bottle game? You hold clothes-pins bout chin level, then see how many you can drop in a bottle.(Of course the bottle has to have a semi-small hole in the top). I think that game is good for just about any age. Hope he has fun, fun, fun! :o) | | | | | | |

| | For my son's 5th birthday we did a pirate theme. I made a skull and crossbones cake myself (wasn't pretty but the kids liked it) For a craft I bought plastic wine glasses from the dollar store and let them decorate them with jewals and ribbons to make fancy goblets. I covered a big water jug (Camping style with spout) with brown paper and put XXX on it (whiskey). I made inventations out of brown paper lunch bags and crumpled them up to look old. I bought a wooded box from the dollar store for the treasure chest and filled it with goodies and then hid it. I hid clues all around and made easy rhymes that they could figure out where the next clue was. The treasure hunt was their fave part. We played walk the plank (walking a 2x4 blind folded) and canon ball (hot potato). The kids also had to dress up of course. If your intrested there is many more games and decoration ideas i could tell you. | | | | | | |

| | Wow what a fantastic idea, will give this a miss this year as have decided to go with the Sportucus theme as that is what he is really into but great idea for his next one. The treasure chest, and letting them decorate their own glasses, amazing fun. Thank you so much for sharing. I bet you son and his friends had such a great day! Ellie :D | | | |
