My oldest daughter Ashley was telling me a few days ago that even though no dates have been confirmed yet that she had heard that one of the concerts on the next part of Hanson's The Walk tour is going to be in Falls Church, VA. Being that I live in VA if this is true I'm already planning on taking her since this will be something special that I can do with her and not have to worry about my husband having to take time off from work now to watch Kayla since she's in the training center now. And also just to be giving Ashley some missed out on mother/daughter time from before Kayla went in the training center.

That would be great to take your daughter to the concert. Spending time with her is important.
Hope you have a lot of fun together.

I know with all the time I've had to devote to her sister through the years I know now that I can spend more time with her I need to.

That is a great idea. It does help with spending time together and bonding. It will be a great memory to share with her. I took my daughter to her first concert when she was 12. It was a 10 hour extravaganza of different bands playing. Her favorite band was at the end and she was so excited! We shared that day with my good friend and her son, which it was his first concert too. We even got to text the big board next to the stage and told the kids that we hoped they are enjoying the concert. Those are really good memories.

It's definitely not her first concert, but they are her favorite band.

I know she will. I just wish there was some way that I could find out whether it is true about about it without her knowing, and then if it is get tickets without her knowing. I just want to surprise her with it if I can.

I am glad you are getting to spend some long deserved time with your daughter. Maybe it will bring the two of you alot closer. I am sure that she has felt left out at times. I know that is what my 14 year old is telling us now. We have always included him when we worked or played with his brother, but he kind of resents the fact that my other son, was always there. I never realized how much it bothered him.

I know it can bother them more than what they say. Ashley has dealt with depression for the last several years and I'm sure a lot of it is due to the fact of feeling left out.

That would be a nice event for you and her. I would like to take my daughter to see Kenny Chesney in concert, but it is so expensive to see him. I think that our daughters need that time, even at age 18. My oldest is 17 and I hate the thought of her leaving the house although I know it will happen eventually.

Sometimes I think we need the mother/daughter time as much as they do.

I know we'll have good memories of it. We went to two back in October of last year, but still at that time my husband had to take time off from work to stay home with my other daughter for me to take her, so of course losing money that we could have used for something else later. Now I can take her and not have to him take off from work for me to do it.

I think it is a great idea. I am planning on taking my oldest daughter (also named Ashleigh)to Utah this summer to visit her Aunt and while we are there I plan on taking her to High School Musical the show. She doesn't have any idea that we are going to do this and I hope she will be delighted. It is so hard to please 12 year olds nowadays.

Ashley's 18. And it's hard to please them too. Ashley has suffered from depression for several years. I know mostly from having a special needs sister and the stress from that. Her depression was so bad that school was such a stressor that she didn't finish. She is however gonna go through the GED program and get her GED. So I don't mind that, it is an education of some sort. So I just feel like if it is true about this concert that it will just be something special just for her. Plus she says a lot of their music is what at times has helped through rough times in her depression.

Yea, it definitely was lacking. I'm sure a lot of Ashley's depression that she's dealt with for several years now has been related to that too. And Hanson is her favorite band. She says that a lot of their music has helped her through rough times with her depression.

Valerie, this sounds like so much fun for you and your older daughter.
You are right... you and her need some quality time especially now that you have the time to go with her that Kayla is in good hands...
I hope and pray they come soon!
Have a great day!

I think you should push through with the plan. Its perfectly good and I think you will enjoy at the same time do bonding with your daughter. Although our children have grown up already, there is still the need to be with them and share time and enjoyable moments with them. Do enjoy and have fun!
