Is there an entertainer to you use to be a fan of and now that person's style no longer appeals to you. I was just watching Janet Jackson's new video, "Feedback," and it was annoying to me. I believe that I like her as a person(as far as what I know of her) but she performs for young people.
I am tired of her voice, dancing, style, and music. It kind of makes me feel old, but if being young means listening to that stuff is hip, I am glad to be old. As far as I see, she has not matured in her style to keep up with my generation. I am the one that has changed and it kind of makes me sad.
I know that she hast to stay at the top of her game and it is good that she can still attrack the younger people, but it feels like the end of an era for me. Has this ever happened to you before?

I hate to say it but for me it is Micheal Jackson. I used to enjoy his music but I've outgrown it and I don't care much for him either. I'm not going to argue about whether he's a child molester or not b/c other than him and the boys involved no one can know for sure but it is unbelievable that he would put himself in that position in the first place. A grown man inviting boys to stay at his home...in his bedroom? That's asking for trouble whether anything happened or not.
My Mom is a die-hard Micheal Jackson fan but I just don't really care for him anymore.

Even though I am still a fan and trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. I have never understood why he had to be around little boys so much either. Not only that, with the second charges, he had three children of his own. I do not understand why he would want to have other children over and spend so much time with them when he has children of his own.
I mean, what were his children doing when he played with the older boys that accused him of molestation? I have a million questions about the whole thing that just do not make any sense at all. If it were not true, why did the first boy not speak up and defend Michael? That kid is grown now. I would have spoke up and said, my parents were lying to get money and Michael never did anything to me.
If it was a lie, surely he feels bad about it. I watched the first time very closely and it just didn't make any sense for Michael to get wrapped up in something like that again. Then he claims that he left the country because we, his fans, were not treating him right.
I guess he figured that he was so great that we would love him no matter what he did. People tend to get a little fickle when you start speaking of child abuse. All I know is if I had a son, I would not feel comfortable with him being anywhere near Michael.

I totally agee that he used that place to prey on children. We all know that there are gigantic holes in the stories and a lot of things that just don't make sense. Another thing, if he were innocent, why did he pay that first kid, like twenty million dollars.
I understand his fear of going to court, but I would have had to go the first time and put the rumors to reat. People who are innocent are anxious to clear their names. He may have a lot of money, but he is not that rich. Twenty million dollars is a lot of cabbage.

There are alot of questions that have never been answered. I also followed all the news reportings that came out with the trials and it never made sense to me either.
Why were the boys invited to stay in his room while the parents were given rooms at the other end of the house? Why was the hallway outside his room the ONLY place in the house to have a security camera and one that could be viewed from inside his own room? Why was no one except him allowed to have the access code to his bedroom door(even the maids and security didn't have it)? Why after he was accused once and it was settled did he go back and again put himself in that position?
I don't believe that he left the country b/c he felt shunned or unappreciated by his fans...I believe he left the country b/c he wanted to go somewhere where the laws were more lax and ppl weren't watching him all the time. I think Neverland was built as a kid magnet to get more kids to come to his house...kind of a hunting ground, it seems.

Yeah, I've gone through that with some artists that I used to enjoy listening to. None as famous as Janet Jackson come to mind though. I know a lot of people lost interest in Michael Jackson after the accusations of child molestation. Such a shame. You might have heard of the country group The Dixie Chicks? I used to love them. Then they went all political, which is their right, but they did it in such a foul way that I lost all interest in their music. Not just because of them, but they seemed to alter their music style drastically after the drumming they took in the press for their outspokeness.

I think that Michael Jackson should retire. He is my favorite singer, but I think that he needs to focus on raising his children, so that they can have as normal a life as possible. If that is possible.
I remember when that happened with the Dixie Chicks. I do not know why some artist risk their careers to make a political statement, but I guess it means that much to them. I do not know what might come out of my mouth if I had a national platform. I do enough damage here on Mylot, LOL.

Kylie Minogue and Madonna.
Their entire style of music has changed. Mostly for worse.

I used to really like Tom Cruise. I don't anymore because he just seems a bit bizarre with the Scientology thing.
He used to seem so normal, but he is just really odd and getting odder as more time passes. Katie appears to be his devoted follower and not his wife.

You make it sound eerie, like a cult and something and it very well might be. I do not know much about that religion. I do know that you have to be rich and give a lot of money.
I have been hearing a lot about Mr. Tom Cruise lately and it has not been anything like, oh he sure is fine. Isn't he the one who throws those tantrums on Oprah Winfrey's couch? Nothing a little Ritalin couldn't fix, LOL. He is a cutie pie though. But you say that Katie Holmes appears to be just one of his groupies, that's sad.

hi Rozie37. I was a fan of Michael Jackson back then. but later I lost my respect to this former King of Pop after there had been a lot of odds and the rumors that later were proven. well, I was also a fan of Vanessa Mae back then, and later also lost my respect to her completely for one and another reason. maybe I should remember that these celebrities are just humans like us. sounds like this happened to many people too.

I do not think that I have ever stopped liking an entertainer for something that happened in their personal life. I never know the whole story anyway. I am still a fan of Janet. From what I know of her, I really like her as a person, but I have just outgrown her music.

This happened to me more often even though a little bit different from yours.most of the time after seen a movie I will have a special like of the actor ,then I will search all the information and the poster of him..but after a long while I will not like him any more then I found out that all because of I just like the actor he played not the person himself..I just like the play rather than the actor himself......
Have a nice day and take care..

I've never really idolised anyone, so not had this problem. I suppose the older we get, the more annoyed we get that others around us are trying to keep their groove and not grow old gracefully.
