It's true. Although the majority of victims were women, men suffered also.
The reasons were often political and tactical in nature. For example, midwives and herbal wise women were often targets because male doctors feared they were taking away their business. To solve this problem they accused them of "trafficking with the devil" and so they would be tortured and/or hanged.

I believe that men are involved in witchcraft as well but I believe that there were more women involved in it and mostly accuesed of witchcraft during the witch trials were women. During the Salem Witch Trials Twenty of the accused, fifteen were women and five men, were hanged. The witch trial reached Torsåker in Sweden After the last sermon in the church of Torsåker, the prisoners, 71 people, 65 women and six men, were led to the place of execution either hanged, burned or beheaded.

It varied across Europe. In some countries there were MORE men accused. It also makes a huge difference if you include people accused of heresy or other supernatural crimes - such as being a werewolf - rather than just looking for the specific term witchcraft.

Not all those accused or even convicted were executed (hanging was the preferred method in England) often they were given fines or prison sentences.

The torture used for men was a little different. I remember at least one being crushed under stones during the Salem Witch trials.
