It wasn't as dark as the book, but I suppose it appealed to a wider audience that way. Michelle Pfeiffer was a superb choice for the Witch Queen. She's such a beautiful lady that it was a shock to see her become older and uglier as the film progressed.

I loved the love story the best, though it was a very funny in places too! I saw it not knowing what to expect and was very pleasently surprised, really enjoyed it.
