I don't exactly on a Ford Explorer but most vehicles tail lights are only held in by 3 plastic wingnuts you can unscrew with your hands. Try pulling back the trim panel behind your tail lights (usually trunk trim in a car, not sure for an exploder) it should reveal how to loosen and de-attach the lamp.
