During my lifetime,I have meet some people who would simply argue for the sake of it.I would say black,in turn they would say white type of thing. Dosen't seem to make any difference what one may say, there are those who seem to just wish to have their say with no room for discussion.Have you also experienced this and if so how did you respond?

Don't you just love people like that. Sometimes you just have to tell them to take their opinion and stick it where the sun don't shine! Some of these folks just like to here the sound of their own voice. My brother used to carry a tape recorder around with him and tape what they said. When he had several conversations on tape, he would do a nice cut and paste and make up a really cool fake conversation, and then have it playing when the person came into the room. You have to remember this was back before digital recorders and you could splice tapes. My brother was a pro at it! It was wonderful. The person would go ballistic. "I didn't say that!" But of course it was their voice and the other people on the tape who were in on it, claimed it was their conversation too. Sometimes it cured sometimes it didn't. It was always fun! Shalom

We have a co worker like this in the office. We come out with outrageous statements around her just to argue the fact. It wastes time, makes the day go faster...

gandatwo- I was looking to see if the topic of those who argue for the sake of the argument existed and came across your discussion. It's amazing that you wrote this three years ago. It must be a flaw of human nature or something because I sat here today wondering why on earth people do this. My own occurred recently when I was agreeing with someone and they responded with a response just to be contrary. When I explained I was agreeing with them and they again responded in the contrary asking for where they had said what I was agreeing with. I simply had to shake my head because I did not understand the mentality. I've also seen a great deal of this occur more online than offline to be honest. Most of the people I meet on a day to day basis do not play this game, but it seems that it is more frequent online where people hide behind the anonymity of an online name. It's very sad indeed.
