Struggling With A Bug

Hi friends, I have been down and out since Tuesday morning. The stomach flu has been travelling around my building and it caught me two days ago. I ended up moanig and groaning for five hours at Santa Monica UCLA hospital. I am assuming that it is a county hospital because they took so long. I normally go to Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, but the ambulance driver kept saying it was too far. They continued to ask what I wanted them to do. Finally I said, I do not care what you do, just make my stomach stop hurting. To which they replied, we can't do anything, we have to take you to the hospital. They finally did. The majority of the time that I was in the waiting room, I slept. I was too weak and in too much pain to much else. Finally they called me and gave me two shots. One for pain and one for nausea. I am feeling a lot better today, but some symptoms still linger, so I am going back to bed. Have you ever been so sick that all you cared about is getting rid of the pain any way you could?

I am so sorry that you are sick, I am happy to hear that it seems you are over the worst of it. I do hope you get beack to feeling good real soon. Being sick is the pits. I had surgery a few years ago on my wrist. It was extensive surgery. When I came to, I was in so much pain. It was unbelievable, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I don't nromally take any medicines, I was in so much pain and agony I was crying and begging for a shot. The morphine shots just were not working, finally after many shots they gave me a couple of pain pills, that and the shot finally took the edge off to where I could quit crying and begging. It was horrible.

Good for both of you for quitting bad habits. I quit smoking in 1999 and it was one of the greatest miracles God ever gave me. I knew that there was no way for me to do that on my own.

Awwww I knew something was up because I had not seen many discussions posted from you this week! sorry dear to hear you are going through this pain and not feeling all too good! I had gall stones twice in Samoa and the pain is excruciating. I ended up at the hospital twice and they gave me a strong pain relief injection that made me fall asleep there. A few hours later I was awake and ready to go home without any pain. hope you get better SOON Rozie :D:D

I am feeling a lot better today. But what is funny is that everytime I get real bad stomach pains, the first thing that I say is that if having children feels like this, I never want to experience it. I am a chicken, hehe.

Chocolate, what chocolate? Whose got the chocolate? Who said something about chocolate? LOL. You know what is weird, since I got sick, I haven't been craving much sweet stuff. That is very strange for me. But a good thing. What do you mean it is worse, on my, I want children, but I don't think I could deliberately put myself in that much misery. Adoption, a good alternative for becoming a mother. Just kidding, I want my own. But seriously, you go through nine months of pain and discomfort, but does it really end after they are born? Questions to ponder, he he.

I hope you get to feeling better Rosie. That sounds like a bad flu to have. I hate colds myself. I feel like I might be getting the cold I had before I had my eye surgery. I went to my primary care doctor to get some pills to take for it. Of course my mom has been very sick and with me being around her. I wouldn't be surprized if I don't.

I am sorry to hear that you and your mom are not feeling well. Colds are very contagious and hard to treat. I got a shot for the flu last year, but I do not believe it covers the stomach flu, LOL.

I know how you feel. I often feel that way too when I get sick but those medical people should have treated you right away. Why did they have to let you wait? That's not right. They should have had test to check whats wrong with your stomach like doing an ultra sound right away. I guess they just didn't know what to do with you..Hmmmm..Anyways pain is too much for me and I don't ever want to get sick my family depends on me a lot.

I think that it may be that they accessed me and saw that I could hang on for at least five hours, so they stuck me in a corner. They usually do this when they are crowded. They take the most severe people first. The doctor looked at my lips and said that although I was a little dehydrated, I had enough on reserve and just needed to drink more liquids. As sick as I was, the thought of drinking water was like tasting poison.

Ohhh yes I sure have!! Oh Rozie, get better sweetie! I hate to see anyone sick!! I see it all over the news that the upper states are really bad and the west is moderate and my area the east isn't too too bad - yet. There is a new strand of the flu that's out and apparently a lot of people are getting it. The flu shots were already made up before the found this new strand.

Is that what it is? I know that I got a flu shot last year. So this thing caught me by surprise. I was keeping a friend company who was sick and the next thing I knew, I had her symptoms. I am feeling better today, thank God.

I know how you feel. I don't go to the doctor very often but if its bad enough for me to go than its bad. I went the other day because my throat was hurting so bad I couldn't eat. I was coughing really bad, and my lower abdomen was hurting. They gave me a shot for my throat and coughing and scheduled an ultra sound for me today. I found out that I have two ovarian cysts. That just adds to my wonderful day. *sigh* All I wanted was for the hurting to go away like you. lol

I think I remember you saying that you and your husband were passing something back and forth. I was so afraid that this would happen with my roommate and I, but it didn't. I was the only one to get the bug. Thank you, I am feeling much better now.

I had a flu shot, but I do not think that it covers the stomach flu. Or maybe this was a virus. I just thank God that I am almost fully recovered.

This thing seems to want to linger. I got less than two hours sleep last night because of constipation. Today, I just have a general icky feeling.

For the pain in your stomach try sipping peppermint tea. I find when I have pain in my stomach that really helps.

I use to keep all kinds of tea. Mint, lemon, Earl Grey, I even had orange, spice, and peach. Now all I keep is Lipton regular. Maybe I will have a cup of that tonight.
